Katee Sackhoff

Katee Sackhoff is an American actress born on April 8, 1980. She is widely recognized for her television roles, most notably portraying Lieutenant Kara "Starbuck" Thrace on the science-fiction series Battlestar Galactica. Her major television credits also include playing Deputy Victoria "Vic" Moretti on Longmire, Niko Breckenridge on Another Life, and Bo-Katan Kryze in the live-action series The Mandalorian, a role she previously originated through voice work across multiple animated Star Wars projects.

Raised in St. Helens, Oregon, after being born in Portland, Sackhoff is the daughter of an English-as-a-second-language program coordinator and a land developer. During her youth, she actively competed in swimming with aspirations of a athletic career. However, a right knee injury in high school forced her to stop swimming and led her to practice yoga and pursue an interest in acting. She graduated from Sunset High School in Beaverton in 1998.

Sackhoff relocated to Los Angeles at age 17 after securing a role in the television film Fifteen and Pregnant. She went on to appear in the series Undressed and landed a regular role on The Education of Max Bickford. After making her feature film debut in My First Mister and appearing in Halloween: Resurrection, she achieved her breakthrough when cast in Battlestar Galactica. Her performance earned her Saturn Award recognition, including a win for her supporting work. Following the end of filming on the series, she underwent surgery for thyroid cancer and entered remission in early 2009.

Throughout her career, Sackhoff has maintained a steady presence in television and film. She held main or recurring roles in series such as Bionic Woman, Nip/Tuck, 24, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and The Flash, while also guest starring as herself on The Big Bang Theory. Her prominent main roles include playing a sheriff's deputy on the drama series Longmire from 2012 to 2017 and leading the science-fiction drama Another Life from 2019 to 2021. Her feature film credits include White Noise: The Light, Riddick, Oculus, and Don't Knock Twice.

In addition to her live-action work, Sackhoff has established a prolific voice-acting career. Beyond voicing Bo-Katan Kryze in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and Star Wars: Tales of the Empire, she voices the character Bitch Pudding on the animated series Robot Chicken. She has also provided voice work and performance capture for video games, including Halo 3, Spider-Man: Edge of Time, and Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Outside of acting, she has hosted podcasts, including relaunching her show as The Sackhoff Show, which shifted toward a Battlestar Galactica rewatch format in late 2025.

Sackhoff co-founded Acting Outlaws, a motorcycle-riding charity organization, alongside her former co-star Tricia Helfer to raise funds and awareness for various causes. She married actor Robin Gadsby in October 2021, and the couple has a daughter and a son. Sackhoff moved back to Oregon with her family in 2024.
