Kat Dennings

Kat Dennings, born Katherine Victoria Litwack, is an American actress known for her work across television and film. She is widely recognized for her starring role as Max Black in the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls, which aired from 2011 to 2017, and for playing Darcy Lewis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero franchise.

Dennings was born on June 13, 1986, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, into a Jewish family as the youngest of five children. Her mother worked as a poet and speech therapist, while her father was a molecular pharmacologist, college professor, and chairman. She grew up in Wynnewood, Pennsylvania, and began her career at age nine appearing in commercials. Mostly homeschooled, Dennings completed high school early at age 14 and subsequently relocated to Los Angeles with her family to pursue acting full time, adopting the professional surname Dennings.

Dennings made her professional acting debut in 2000 on the HBO television series Sex and the City. Shortly after, she starred in the sitcom Raising Dad from 2001 to 2002 and appeared in the Disney Channel movie The Scream Team in 2002. She also guest-starred on various television series, including Without a Trace, Less than Perfect, ER, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and CSI: NY.

Dennings made her feature film debut in 2004 with Raise Your Voice. Over the next several years, she secured supporting roles in feature films, including The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), Down in the Valley (2005), and Big Momma's House 2 (2006). In 2008, she starred in the comedy-drama Charlie Bartlett, appeared in The House Bunny, and played Norah Silverberg in Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Her performance in Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist earned her a nomination for an International Press Academy Satellite Award for Best Actress.

Between 2009 and 2010, Dennings appeared in films such as The Answer Man, Shorts, Defendor, and Daydream Nation. In 2011, she was cast as Darcy Lewis in the Marvel Studios superhero film Thor. She later reprised the character in Thor: The Dark World in 2013, the Disney+ miniseries WandaVision in 2021, and Thor: Love and Thunder in 2022.

Alongside her film work, Dennings gained major television prominence when she was cast in 2 Broke Girls in 2011, starring alongside Beth Behrs for six seasons. Her other screen projects include starring in the drama film To Write Love on Her Arms, the independent feature Suburban Gothic, and the Hulu comedy series Dollface, which premiered in November 2019.
