Joey King

Joey Lynn King is an American actress born on July 30, 1999, in Los Angeles. She is best known for starring as Ramona Quimby in the 2010 comedy film Ramona and Beezus and playing the lead role of Elle Evans in The Kissing Booth film series from 2018 to 2021. She also received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Gypsy-Rose Blanchard in the 2019 true crime drama series The Act.

King was raised alongside two older sisters, including actress Hunter King. Her mother is of Jewish descent, and King has stated that she is Jewish. During her childhood, she sang a cappella for a talent show at the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center and performed with the Stage Door Children's Theatre in Agoura. She attended Phoenix Ranch School in Simi Valley and began acting professionally at age four in a commercial for Life Cereal, later appearing in commercials for AT&T, Kay Jewelers, and Eggo.

King made her film debut in Reign Over Me in 2007. The following year, she voiced a character in the animated feature Horton Hears a Who! and appeared in Quarantine. She made guest appearances on television shows such as Ghost Whisperer, Jericho, Entourage, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Medium, and The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. After securing her first film lead in Ramona and Beezus—for which she released the single "Ramona Blue"—King appeared in Battle: Los Angeles, Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Dark Knight Rises, Oz the Great and Powerful, White House Down, and The Conjuring. She was also featured in Taylor Swift's music video for "Mean" and appeared on the television series Bent, New Girl, and The Haunting Hour: The Series.

In 2014, King appeared in the movie Wish I Was Here and was cast as Greta Grimly in the FX black comedy series Fargo. Her subsequent projects included the coming-of-age drama The Possibility of Fireflies, the horror-thriller film Wish Upon in 2017, and the supernatural horror film Slender Man in 2018.

King gained wider recognition starring as Elle Evans in Netflix's romantic comedy film The Kissing Booth in 2018, reprising the role in its 2020 and 2021 sequels. In 2019, she starred as Gypsy-Rose Blanchard in Hulu's true crime series The Act, shaving her head for the third time in her career for the role. Her performance earned her nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, a SAG Award, and a Critics' Choice Award. That same year, she also appeared in the fourth season of the comedy series Life in Pieces.

King is represented by WME and Brillstein Entertainment Partners. She signed a deal with Hulu in August 2020 to produce television content, and her production company, All The King's Horses, struck a deal with Netflix in July 2021. Her later projects include lead roles in Bullet Train, The Princess, and A Family Affair, voice work in Despicable Me 4, and a role in the Hulu Original Series We Were the Lucky Ones. In 2023, she appeared in Taylor Swift's music video for "I Can See You (Taylor's Version) [From The Vault]."

In her personal life, King began dating producer and director Steven Piet in 2019 after meeting on the set of The Act. They became engaged in February 2022 and were married on September 2, 2023, in Mallorca, Spain.
