Tom Hardy

Edward Thomas Hardy, born on 15 September 1977, is an English actor and artist known for portraying complex, psychologically-driven characters across independent films, blockbusters, and television. He established early recognition in productions like Star Trek: Nemesis (2002) and RocknRolla (2008), before gaining critical acclaim for roles in Bronson (2008), Warrior (2011), Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011), Lawless (2012), and Locke (2013).

Hardy was born in Hammersmith, London, to artist Anne Barrett and novelist Edward "Chips" Hardy, and was raised in East Sheen. He pursued his education at Tower House School, Reed's School, Duff Miller Sixth Form College, Richmond Drama School, and the Drama Centre London. During his youth, he struggled with severe alcohol and drug use before entering rehabilitation in 2003. In 1998, he won a supermodel competition on The Big Breakfast, earning a brief modeling contract.

Hardy began his screen career with roles in the miniseries Band of Brothers (2001) and the war film Black Hawk Down (2001). On stage, his performances in Blood and In Arabia We'd All Be Kings earned him the London Evening Standard Theatre Award for Outstanding Newcomer in 2003, along with a Laurence Olivier Award nomination. His early television work included playing Robert Dudley in The Virgin Queen (2005), Stuart Shorter in Stuart: A Life Backwards (2007), Bill Sikes in Oliver Twist (2007), and Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights (2009).

In 2010, Hardy starred as Eames in Christopher Nolan's Inception, winning the BAFTA Rising Star Award. He continued collaborating with Nolan as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and an air force pilot in Dunkirk (2017). Hardy reached international prominence in 2015 by starring as Max Rockatansky in Mad Max: Fury Road, portraying both Kray twins in Legend, and appearing as John S. Fitzgerald in The Revenant, a performance that earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Hardy achieved further global recognition playing Eddie Brock and Venom in Sony's Spider-Man Universe films: Venom (2018), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021), and Venom: The Last Dance (2024). On television, he portrayed Alfie Solomons in Peaky Blinders and created, co-produced, and starred in Taboo (2017). In addition to acting, he releases hip-hop music under the alias Frankie Pulitzer, collaborating with the duo Czarface on the 2026 album Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer.

Outside of entertainment, Hardy engages in philanthropic efforts, serving as an ambassador for the Prince's Trust and a patron for Bowel Cancer UK. For his contributions to drama, he was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2018.
