Jamie Dornan

James Peter Maxwell Dornan is an actor and model from Northern Ireland. He is recognized for his work across film and television, earning two Irish Film and Television Awards along with nominations for a BAFTA Television Award and a Golden Globe Award. Vogue named him one of the 25 Biggest Male Models of All Time, and The Irish Times ranked him among the greatest Irish film actors of all time.

Dornan was born on 1 May 1982 in Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland, and grew up in the suburbs of Belfast. His mother passed away when he was 16, and his father was an obstetrician and gynaecologist. He attended Methodist College Belfast, where he played rugby and participated in drama, later playing for the Ulster Rugby under-21 team. After attending Teesside University, he dropped out and moved to London in 2002 to pursue acting.

He worked in a pub before signing with Select Model Management to launch his modelling career. Dornan featured in major advertising campaigns for brands including Hugo Boss, Dior Homme, Calvin Klein, Aquascutum, Armani, and Levi's Jeans. Outside of modelling, he performed in the folk band Sons of Jim until 2008, releasing songs such as Fairytale and My Burning Sun under their independent record label Doorstep Records.

Dornan made his feature film acting debut in Sofia Coppola's drama Marie Antoinette (2006). He gained broader television recognition playing the Huntsman / Sheriff Graham Humbert in Once Upon a Time between 2011 and 2013. His breakout role came in the crime drama series The Fall (2013–2016), portraying serial killer Paul Spector. His performance earned critical acclaim, an Irish Film and Television Award, and a nomination for the British Academy Television Award for Best Actor.

He achieved wider global recognition by starring as Christian Grey in the Fifty Shades film trilogy from 2015 to 2018, which collectively grossed over $1.3 billion worldwide. Dornan subsequently expanded into independent and historical film roles, appearing in the war dramas Anthropoid (2016) and The Siege of Jadotville (2016), the biographical drama A Private War (2018), and the science fiction thriller Synchronic (2019). He also appeared in comedies such as Wild Mountain Thyme (2020) and Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar (2021).

In 2021, Dornan starred in Kenneth Branagh's drama Belfast, earning nominations for the Golden Globe Award and Critics' Choice Movie Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has since played the lead role of Elliot Stanley/Eugene Cassidy in the thriller drama series The Tourist (2022–2024). Additionally, he has contributed music to the soundtracks for Fifty Shades Freed, Wild Mountain Thyme, and Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar.
