Peck was raised in Los Angeles, California. He comes from a prominent background in the arts and public service as the grandson of actor Gregory Peck and his Finnish-born first wife, Greta Kukkonen. His father, Stephen Peck, is a former actor, documentary filmmaker, and Vietnam War veteran who served as president and chief executive officer of the U.S. Veterans Initiative. His mother, Francine Matarazzo, is an abstract painter. Through his mother's second marriage, he has a half-sister, Marisa Matarazzo, who works as a novelist and creative writing professor at Otis College of Art and Design.

Growing up in Studio City, Peck attended private educational institutions including Campbell Hall and Harvard-Westlake School. During his youth, he excelled in sports and spent time playing classical cello. After completing high school, he enrolled at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he trained within the Experimental Theater Wing for three years before leaving to focus on his professional acting career.

Peck made his screen acting debut at nine years old in the made-for-television film Marshal Law, playing the son of the character portrayed by Jimmy Smits. As a youth performer, he made television appearances that included portraying a younger version of Michael Kelso on That '70s Show. In 1999, he appeared in the film Passport to Paris alongside Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

In 2008, Peck appeared in the drama Tennessee alongside Mariah Carey and Adam Rothenberg, and co-starred in Adopt a Sailor with Peter Coyote and Bebe Neuwirth. His portrayal of the titular character in Adopt a Sailor won him the Best Actor award at the 2009 Sonoma International Film Festival. From 2009 to 2010, he played Patrick Verona on the ABC Family series 10 Things I Hate About You.

In 2012, Peck was cast as Prince Maxon in a pilot adaptation of The Selection, though he was subsequently replaced and the project was not picked up. He became a spokesperson for Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo in 2015, appearing in print campaigns and the short film Coming Home to Hollywood for the brand's centennial. He starred in the 2016 films The Curse of Sleeping Beauty and Tell Me How I Die, followed by the 2018 ensemble comedy The Honor List.

In 2019, Peck was cast as Spock in the second season of Star Trek: Discovery. He subsequently reprised the iconic role in Star Trek: Short Treks, the animated project Star Trek: Very Short Treks, and the spin-off series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
