About Nicholas Braun

Nicholas Joseph Braun is an American actor best known for playing Greg Hirsch on the HBO drama series Succession from 2018 to 2023. His performance in the show earned him three Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. In addition to his television achievements, Braun has appeared in numerous feature films spanning comedy, drama, and thriller genres.

Braun was born May 1, 1988, and grew up on Long Island, New York. His father worked as an actor and former graphic designer who co-created the Rolling Stones' tongue and lips logo. After his parents divorced when he was five years old, Braun divided his time between his mother's home in Connecticut and his father's residence in Manhattan. Encouraged by his father, he began taking acting classes at an early age. He attended a boarding school as a teenager and acted during summer breaks before enrolling as a mathematics major at Occidental College, which he left after two years to focus on acting.

Standing 6 feet 7 inches tall, Braun noted that his height presented early casting challenges, leading him to occasionally try appearing shorter in auditions. He made his feature film debut in Sky High in 2005, followed by roles in Disney Channel Original Movies such as Minutemen and Princess Protection Program. He played the regular role of Cameron on 10 Things I Hate About You until 2010 and appeared in The Secret Life of the American Teenager and the web series The LXD. His other early projects include Prom, Red State, The Watch, and the 2012 film The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Braun continued working in comedy and drama with appearances in Date and Switch and How to Be Single. In 2015, he contributed vocals to two tracks on the Phantoms EP Broken Halo. He later played Derrek in the 2021 drama film Zola. In July 2020, Braun released a single and music video titled "Antibodies (Do You Have The)" in collaboration with Partners In Health and the COPE Program to help raise funds for populations at high risk during the pandemic.

Following his acclaim on Succession, Braun expanded his television and film work. In 2022, he appeared in an episode of Documentary Now! that parodied the films of Werner Herzog. He subsequently starred in the 2023 film Cat Person and appeared in Dream Scenario. Braun was also cast as Jim Henson and Andy Kaufman in the biographical dramedy Saturday Night, and joined the cast of the thriller film The Sheep Detectives.

In addition to screen acting, Braun launched his stage career in New York City. He made his off-Broadway debut playing Doug in a 2025 revival of Gruesome Playground Injuries at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, followed by his Broadway debut in All Out: Comedy About Ambition in February 2026. Outside of the performing arts, Braun holds business investments in several bars and restaurants across New York City.
