Jonah Hill

Jonah Hill (born Jonah Hill Feldstein on December 20, 1983) is an American actor and filmmaker. From June 2014 to June 2015, he ranked 28th on Forbes's list of highest-paid actors, earning $16 million. Over the course of his career, he has received nominations for two Academy Awards, a BAFTA Award, and two Golden Globe Awards.

Hill was born in Los Angeles, California, to Sharon Lyn, a costume designer and fashion stylist, and Richard Feldstein, a tour accountant. He was raised in the Cheviot Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles alongside his younger sister, actress Beanie Feldstein, and his older brother, music manager Jordan Feldstein. Hill attended the Center for Early Education, Brentwood School, and Crossroads School. After graduating high school in 2002, he attended The New School, Bard College, and the University of Colorado Boulder, though he did not earn a degree.

While in college, Hill began writing and performing plays in New York City. An introduction by Dustin Hoffman led to Hill making his film debut in I Heart Huckabees. He subsequently appeared in supporting roles in comedic films such as The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Grandma's Boy, Accepted, Click, and Knocked Up. In 2007, he starred in his first leading role in the comedy Superbad, which helped launch his career. He followed this with roles in films including Funny People, Get Him to the Greek, 21 Jump Street, This Is the End, and 22 Jump Street.

Beyond live-action acting, Hill has worked as a screenwriter, producer, and voice actor. He contributed to the story treatments or screenplays for films including 21 Jump Street, 22 Jump Street, Sausage Party, Why Him?, and You People. He also provided voice work for animated features such as Horton Hears a Who!, Megamind, Sausage Party, and entries in the How to Train Your Dragon and The Lego Movie franchises.

Hill earned critical acclaim for taking on dramatic roles in major feature films. His performance in Moneyball earned him nominations for both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actor. He received his second Academy Award nomination for his performance in The Wolf of Wall Street. His other acting credits include Cyrus, Django Unchained, True Story, Hail, Caesar!, War Dogs, Don't Worry, He Won't Get Far on Foot, and Don't Look Up, as well as the Netflix miniseries Maniac.

Hill made his feature directorial debut with the 2018 film Mid90s, which he also wrote. He later directed and produced the 2022 documentary film Stutz. In addition to his film projects, Hill has directed music videos for artists such as Sara Bareilles, Danny Brown, Travis Scott, and Vampire Weekend. His subsequent projects include writing and directing the film Outcome and being cast as Jerry Garcia in a biographical feature directed by Martin Scorsese.
