Baird grew up in Miami, where her mother, who was also a model, enrolled her in acting classes to help her overcome introversion. During her youth, she served as vice president of her school's Thespian Society. At age seventeen, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting. Before breaking into modeling, she supported herself by working as a salesperson at The Gap, a caterer, a waitress, a pre-school teacher, and a clown at children's parties. She eventually signed with Elite Model Management in Miami and appeared on the cover of Playboy in August 2005.
Her acting career began in 2004 with roles on The Drew Carey Show and in the low-budget film Brain Blockers. She achieved a career breakthrough in a major film with the 2005 comedy Wedding Crashers, which she followed with roles in Accepted and Hot Tamale. In 2006, Baird appeared in four feature films, including a major role in the horror movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning.
Throughout her career, Baird appeared in magazines such as Playboy, FHM, Stuff, Maxim, Toro, and Esquire (UK). She was cast in a recurring role for the Amazon Studios pilot Cocked alongside Brian Dennehy, Jason Lee, Dreama Walker, and Sam Trammell. Additionally, Baird starred in the FEARnet web series Tea Party Macabre, several Funny or Die videos, and the 2011 short musical film Howlin' for You for The Black Keys.

Baird is married to Ken Nelson, the owner of the clothing brand Kaiju017, and gave birth to her second child in May 2025.
