Mila Kunis

Milena Markovna "Mila" Kunis is an American actress born on August 14, 1983, in Chernivtsi, Ukraine. She began her career in the early 1990s appearing in minor television roles before achieving widespread recognition. Kunis is best known for her television roles as Jackie Burkhart on the sitcom That '70s Show, which ran from 1998 to 2006, and as the voice of Meg Griffin on the animated series Family Guy, a role she has performed since 1999. Her breakout performance in feature films came with the 2008 romantic comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall.

Kunis was raised in a Jewish family in Chernivtsi, then part of the Ukrainian SSR in the Soviet Union. Her mother, Elvira, was a physics teacher who managed a pharmacy, and her father, Mark Kunis, was a mechanical engineer who worked as a cab driver after the family relocated. Citing antisemitism and a lack of future prospects in the Soviet Union, her family emigrated to Los Angeles, California, in 1991 under a religious-refugee visa when Kunis was seven years old. Raised speaking Russian, she was enrolled at Rosewood Elementary School despite initially knowing no English. She later attended Hubert Howe Bancroft Middle School and Fairfax High School, graduating in 2001, and briefly studied at UCLA and Loyola Marymount University.

At age nine, Kunis began taking after-school acting classes at Beverly Hills Studios, where she met her long-time manager, Susan Curtis. She booked early commercials for Barbie and Lisa Frank before making her television debut in 1994 on Days of Our Lives and Baywatch. She subsequently appeared in minor television and film roles, including 7th Heaven and the television movie Gia. At age 14, she was cast as Jackie Burkhart on That '70s Show, earning two consecutive Young Star Awards in 1999 and 2000. In 1999, she joined Family Guy as the voice of Meg Griffin, later voicing the character in the 2006 release Family Guy Video Game! and earning an Annie Award nomination in 2007.

During the 2000s, Kunis expanded into feature films, appearing in Get Over It (2001), American Psycho 2 (2002), Tony n' Tina's Wedding (2004), Moving McAllister, After Sex, and Boot Camp. Her major film breakout occurred in the 2008 comedy Forgetting Sarah Marshall, which grossed $105 million worldwide and earned her a Teen Choice Award nomination. That same year, she starred as assassin Mona Sax in the video game adaptation Max Payne, followed by a starring role in Mike Judge's 2009 comedy Extract.

In 2010, Kunis co-starred in the action film The Book of Eli and made an appearance in Date Night. She earned critical acclaim for her performance as a rival ballet dancer in the psychological thriller Black Swan (2010). For Black Swan, Kunis received the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the 67th Venice International Film Festival, won a Saturn Award, and earned nominations for the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Supporting Actress.

Kunis went on to star in the romantic comedy Friends with Benefits (2011) and the 2012 comedy Ted, which became her highest-grossing film and brought her a Critics' Choice Award nomination. Her other notable film projects include playing the Wicked Witch of the West in Oz the Great and Powerful (2013), starring in Bad Moms (2016) and A Bad Moms Christmas (2017), and appearing in the mystery film Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025).
