Steve Carell

Steven John Carell is an American actor, comedian, writer, and producer born on August 16, 1962, in Concord, Massachusetts. He attended Denison University in Ohio, earning a bachelor's degree in history. Carell began his career in comedy as a member of The Second City improv troupe in Chicago during the 1990s and later gained widespread visibility as a correspondent on the television series The Daily Show with Jon Stewart from 1999 to 2005.

Carell achieved major television success starring as regional manager Michael Scott in the NBC comedy series The Office from 2005 to 2011. His performance earned him a Golden Globe Award along with multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations. His television work expanded to include executive producing and starring roles in series such as The Morning Show and Space Force.

In film, Carell established himself as a leading comedy actor in features including Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Get Smart, Crazy, Stupid, Love, and The Way, Way Back. He also voice-acted as the character Gru in the animated Despicable Me film franchise. Carell has additionally earned acclaim for dramatic roles, receiving an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of John du Pont in Foxcatcher, alongside prominent roles in Little Miss Sunshine, The Big Short, and Battle of the Sexes.

In addition to his entertainment work, Carell owns the historic Marshfield Hills General Store in Massachusetts, which he purchased with his wife, actress Nancy Carell, in 2009. He continues to take on diverse acting roles across film, television, and stage productions.
