Marisa Miller

Marisa Lee Miller (née Bertetta) is an American model best known for her work with Victoria's Secret and her appearances in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. First discovered at age sixteen, she became a Victoria's Secret Angel in 2007 and appeared on the cover of the 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Over her career, Miller transitioned into a celebrity brand, taking on spokesperson roles for major national companies, appearing in television programs, and expanding into film acting.

Miller was born in Santa Cruz, California, to Krista and Marc Bertetta, and grew up with two younger sisters. She attended Aptos High School and Monte Vista Christian School. Growing up, she considered herself a tomboy with mostly male friends and felt shy about her body. In 1994, two Italian modeling agents discovered her at age sixteen while she was walking through a San Francisco café. Months later, she traveled to Italy with her mother to pursue modeling, despite her shy personality and initial doubts regarding her fit with the decade's popular androgynous fashion trends.

Miller gained initial attention in 1997 through her appearances in Perfect 10 magazine, placing third in its first annual model search and subsequently gracing multiple covers. Her shift to mainstream work occurred in 2001 after being introduced to photographer Mario Testino, leading to editorials for both the American and Italian editions of Vogue. By 2002, she began working for Victoria's Secret and appeared in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, featuring in every consecutive issue through 2008. The tandem online launch for her 2008 cover issue generated a record 228 million page views.

Throughout her modeling career, Miller appeared in global editions of magazines including GQ, Maxim, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Elle, and Vanity Fair. She starred in advertising campaigns for brands such as Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, Guess?, Nordstrom, Bath & Body Works, and True Religion jeans. She debuted in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in December 2007, participating in major promotional tours and campaigns for the brand. For the 2009 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, she was selected to wear the year's $3-million diamond-studded "Fantasy Bra."

Expanding beyond traditional modeling, Miller transitioned into promoting consumer products aligned with her personal brand. In 2008, she became the first spokesperson in the history of motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson, starring in multiple advertising campaigns. She developed a shoe line with Vans, designed a paddle board line with Surftech, and served as an ambassador for Captain Morgan. In 2010, she became a spokesperson for the NFL, hosting events such as the NFL International Series game in London.

Miller's television and media work includes serving as a judge on the 2004 reality series Manhunt: The Search for America's Most Gorgeous Male Model, guest roles on Entourage and How I Met Your Mother, and guest judging on America's Next Top Model. She starred in a 2004 music video for Puddle of Mudd, appeared in various national television commercials, and made her feature film debut in the 2013 movie R.I.P.D. Outside of her commercial career, Miller has acted as an ambassador for both the USO and the American Cancer Society.
