Katie Cassidy

Katherine Evelyn Anita Cassidy is an American actress born on November 25, 1986, in Los Angeles, California. She is the daughter of actor and singer David Cassidy and fashion model Sherry Williams. Raised by her mother and stepfather, Cassidy grew up in Bell Canyon, California, where she competed as a cheerleader for the California Flyers and attended Calabasas High School. During her time in high school, she signed a recording contract and released a cover of the song "I Think I Love You."

Cassidy made her television debut in 2003 on the drama series The Division. Following appearances on shows such as 7th Heaven, Sex, Love & Secrets, Listen Up, and New Girl, she made her feature film debut in the 2006 horror movie When a Stranger Calls. She quickly established a presence in the horror genre, starring as Kelli Presley in the remake of Black Christmas and playing the demon Ruby during the third season of the series Supernatural. Her early film credits also include supporting roles in Click, Live!, and Taken.

In 2009, Cassidy played bride-to-be Patricia "Trish" Wellington in the CBS mystery limited series Harper's Island and starred as publicist Ella Simms in The CW's reboot of Melrose Place. The following year, she portrayed Kris Fowles in the 2010 remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street, receiving a Teen Choice Award nomination for her performance. Cassidy subsequently co-starred in the 2011 comedy film Monte Carlo and landed a recurring role as Juliet Sharp in the fourth season of the drama series Gossip Girl.

Cassidy achieved her career breakthrough in 2012 after being cast as Laurel Lance / Black Canary on The CW superhero series Arrow. She reprised the role across multiple Arrowverse properties, including appearances in The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow, as well as voicing the character in the animated web series Vixen. Following her character's death in season four of Arrow, Cassidy continued in the franchise as Black Siren, an antagonistic parallel-universe version of her character, returning as a series regular for season six through the end of the show. She also made her directorial debut on the season eight episode "Leap of Faith."

Cassidy's additional projects include playing the title role of Suki in the film adaptation of The Scribbler, portraying Sharon in the 2016 horror film Wolves at the Door, appearing in the 2017 video game Hidden Agenda, and starring in the Hallmark Channel movie A Royal Christmas Crush. Outside of her acting work, she has served as a spokeswoman for the charity H.E.L.P. Malawi. Cassidy was married to Matthew Rodgers from December 2018 until their divorce was finalized in March 2021, and she later began a relationship with Canadian actor Stephen Huszar in March 2023.
