Chord Overstreet

Chord Paul Overstreet is an American actor, musician, and songwriter born on February 17, 1989. He is best known for his portrayal of Sam Evans on the Fox comedy-drama television series Glee, appearing on the show from 2009 to 2015. He has also starred in the Apple TV+ comedy series Acapulco, which ran from 2021 to 2025.

Overstreet was raised on a farm outside Nashville, Tennessee, by his mother, hairdresser Julie (née Miller), and his father, country music singer-songwriter Paul Overstreet. Named after the musical term, he is of German, Irish, and English descent. He grew up alongside an older brother, Nash, an older sister, Summer, and three younger sisters named Harmony, Skye, and Charity. Homeschooled as a teenager, he modeled for Gap, Famous Footwear, and Hollister. Encouraged by his parents to pursue music, he learned to play mandolin at an early age before taking up drums, flute, piano, and guitar.

After graduating high school in 2007, Overstreet began pursuing a career in entertainment. In 2009, he started acting by playing Josh Hollis in the web series Private, appearing in an episode of iCarly, and featuring in the unaired pilot of No Ordinary Family. That same year, he landed his first film role as Adam in the thriller The Hole, followed by a role as Dupree in the 2011 film A Warrior's Heart.

Overstreet joined the cast of Glee in its second season after auditioning with songs by the Commodores and Gavin DeGraw. His performance of "Billionaire" in his debut episode charted in multiple countries, including reaching the top 30 in Canada and the United States. Following the second season, he briefly departed the show to focus on music, but returned as a recurring cast member in season three before becoming a series regular from season four through the show's final season. During this era, he also appeared in the 2011 music video for Hot Chelle Rae's "Tonight Tonight."

In December 2015, Overstreet became the first artist signed to Safehouse Records, a label founded by Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, and Phil McIntyre. He opened for Lovato and Jonas on their Future Now Tour in 2016. Overstreet released his debut solo single, "Homeland," in August 2016, followed by the single "Hold On" in February 2017, which was certified double Platinum in the United States. His debut EP, Tree House Tapes, was released in May 2017, and he performed "Hold On" on Today and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Alongside his solo music releases, Overstreet continued acting with guest appearances on television series such as The Bold Type, Royalties, and Pickle and Peanut. In 2020, he starred in the comedy film The Swing of Things, and in 2022, he starred in the romantic comedy Falling for Christmas alongside Lindsay Lohan.
