Finn Wolfhard

Finn Michael Wolfhard is a Canadian actor, director, and musician born on December 23, 2002. He gained global recognition for starring as Mike Wheeler in the Netflix series Stranger Things. Beyond television, he played Richie Tozier in the horror features It and It Chapter Two, and portrayed Trevor Spengler in the supernatural comedy films Ghostbusters: Afterlife and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Wolfhard was raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, within a family of French, German, and Jewish heritage, and attended a Catholic school. His father works as a researcher specializing in Indigenous land claims in Canada, and his older brother is also an actor.

Wolfhard began his career in 2012 appearing in a music video, followed by television guest roles on series such as The 100 and Supernatural. His career breakthrough occurred in 2016 when he was cast as Mike Wheeler in Stranger Things after submitting a video audition. For their performances in the series, Wolfhard and his castmates received a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Expanding into film, Wolfhard made his feature debut in the 2017 adaptation of Stephen King's It. His subsequent work included roles in the comedy Dog Days, the drama The Goldfinch, the horror film The Turning, and the comedy-drama When You Finish Saving the World. He also lent his voice to animated projects, including playing Player in Carmen Sandiego, Pugsley Addams in The Addams Family, and a role in Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio, alongside a modeling debut for Saint Laurent's Fall/Winter '19 campaign.

In addition to acting, Wolfhard ventured into filmmaking by directing the 2020 comedy short film Night Shifts. He expanded into feature directing with the 2023 comedy horror movie Hell of a Summer, which he co-directed, co-wrote, and co-starred in; the project premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was named second runner-up for the People's Choice Award in the Midnight Madness section. His subsequent projects behind the camera include developing a biopic about the band The Replacements and co-producing the feature film Crash Land.

Parallel to his screen career, Wolfhard served as the lead singer and guitarist for the Vancouver rock band Calpurnia until late 2019. He then formed the band The Aubreys, releasing several singles, an EP titled Soda & Pie, and the 2021 album Karaoke Alone. He later launched a solo music career, releasing his debut album Happy Birthday in 2025 and his follow-up album Fire from the Hip in 2026.

Wolfhard's work earned him spots on several industry lists, including Forbes 30 Under 30 and The Hollywood Reporter's top young stars. Outside of entertainment, he advocates for autism and Indigenous children, hosted the Strange 80s benefit concert for Sweet Relief, and contributes monthly to help those affected by the Russo-Ukrainian war. He has spoken publicly about managing anxiety and panic attacks, describes himself as agnostic, and maintains a private personal life.
