Jamie Campbell Bower

James Metcalfe Campbell Bower is an English actor, singer, musician, and model born on 22 November 1988 in London. He is widely recognized for his critically acclaimed portrayal of Henry Creel and Vecna in the fourth and fifth seasons of the science fiction horror series Stranger Things. In addition to his screen work, Bower has maintained an active music career as a solo artist and frontman for various bands, alongside extensive work in fashion modeling.

Bower was raised in London by his mother, a music manager, and his father, an employee of the Gibson Guitar Corporation. Through his maternal lineage, he descends from Sir John Campbell of Airds, a former Lieutenant Governor of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. He developed an early interest in performance and music, learning the violin as a child through the Suzuki method. He attended Bedales School in Hampshire and gained early theatrical experience with the National Youth Music Theatre and the National Youth Theatre.

Bower launched his professional acting career in 2007 when he co-starred in Tim Burton's film adaptation Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street following a recommendation from Laura Michelle Kelly. Soon after, he appeared in the films RocknRolla and Winter in Wartime, as well as the 2009 miniseries remake of The Prisoner. He gained further international visibility playing the vampire Caius Volturi across several films in The Twilight Saga between 2009 and 2012. He also portrayed the young Gellert Grindelwald in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 and reprised the role in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.

Bower continued to expand his acting portfolio across television, film, and theater. He starred as King Arthur in the fantasy series Camelot and played Christopher Marlowe in the drama series Will. His film projects included starring as Jace Wayland in The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones and appearing in Six Days of Sistine, alongside long-running voice work as Skiff in the Thomas & Friends franchise. On stage, he performed in the West End musical Bend It Like Beckham and made his Broadway debut in Stranger Things: The First Shadow. His performance in Stranger Things became his most prominent and celebrated role.

Alongside acting, Bower has maintained a steady career in music and fashion. He performed with the groups William K and The Darling Buds before leading the punk rock band Counterfeit as lead singer and guitarist from 2015 to 2020. Following the group's breakup, he released solo material and later formed the band BloodMagic in 2024. As a model originally represented by Select Model Management, he has participated in campaigns and runway events for prominent brands including Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Hugo Boss, Fendi, Tom Ford, Cartier, and Saint Laurent.

Bower divides his time between London and Los Angeles. He has been open about his personal life and health, sharing his experiences with mild dyslexia, as well as his recovery from addiction, mental health challenges, and anxiety.
