About Rachelle Lefevre
Rachelle Marie Lefevre is a Canadian-American actress. She is widely known for portraying the renegade vampire Victoria in the first two feature films of the Twilight saga, as well as starring in the television series Big Wolf on Campus, Off the Map, A Gifted Man, Under the Dome, and Proven Innocent. Throughout her career, she has performed across a wide variety of television series, miniseries, and feature films in both Canada and the United States.
Lefevre was born on February 1, 1979, in Montreal, Quebec, where she was raised by an English teacher father and a psychologist mother. She grew up in a non-denominational household, has three sisters, and identifies as Jewish. She speaks both English and French. Lefevre attended Centennial Academy and Dawson College before studying theater for two summers at the Walnut Hill School in Natick, Massachusetts. She later pursued a degree in education and literature at McGill University, though she left before graduating to focus on her acting career.
While working as a waitress at a sushi bar in Westmount, Lefevre mentioned her acting ambitions to a regular customer who was a Canadian television producer. This led to her first audition for the sitcom Student Bodies. Although she was not cast in that project, she secured the role of Stacey Hanson in the 1999 television series Big Wolf on Campus. She subsequently landed roles in films such as Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Hatley High, Noel, Head in the Clouds, and The River King, alongside television projects including Life on a Stick and What About Brian.
Lefevre gained major prominence playing Victoria in the 2008 film Twilight and its 2009 sequel, New Moon. To prepare for the role's physical demands, she studied lion attacks on YouTube and took trapeze lessons. Although she played the character in the first two installments, Summit Entertainment replaced her with Bryce Dallas Howard for the third film, Eclipse, citing scheduling overlaps with the Canadian film Barney's Version. Fans reacted to her departure with online petitions and tribute videos.
Following her work in the Twilight films, Lefevre appeared in feature films such as Casino Jack, Barney's Version, and The Caller, in addition to the miniseries The Summit. On television, she starred as Dr. Ryan Clark in the 2011 medical drama Off the Map and joined the CBS series A Gifted Man. From 2013 to 2015, she starred as part of the ensemble cast in the CBS thriller series Under the Dome, which ran for three seasons.
In her later career, Lefevre joined the television series Mary Kills People for its second season and starred as Madeline Scott in the 2019 legal drama Proven Innocent. Outside of acting, she has supported organizations such as Susan G. Komen for the Cure, School on Wheels, and Best Friends Animal Society. She is married to Chris Crary, has two children, and holds American citizenship.
