Sadie Sink

Sadie Elizabeth Sink is an American actress born on April 16, 2002, in Brenham, Texas. She is best known for portraying Maxine "Max" Mayfield in the Netflix science fiction horror series Stranger Things. Sink began her career in stage theater as a child before transitioning to major roles across television, feature films, and Broadway productions.

Sink grew up in Texas as one of five children born to Lori and Casey Sink. She has three older brothers—Caleb, Spencer, and Mitchell—and a younger sister, Jacey. Encouraged by a shared interest in musical theater with her brother Mitchell, Sink made her stage debut at age seven in a community theater production of The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, followed by a role in The Secret Garden. After training at the Humphreys School of Musical Theatre, her family relocated to New York City in 2012 to support her professional acting career.

Sink made her Broadway debut at age ten in the 2012 revival of Annie, eventually taking over the title role. She made her television debut in a 2013 episode of The Americans, guest-starred in Blue Bloods, and joined the thriller series American Odyssey as a series regular in 2015. That same year, she played a young Elizabeth II opposite Helen Mirren in the Broadway play The Audience. Sink made her feature film debut in the 2016 biographical drama Chuck.

In 2016, Sink secured her breakthrough role as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things. Her performance across multiple seasons earned critical acclaim, a Hollywood Critics Association Award, and nominations for Screen Actors Guild and Saturn Awards. Sink made her modeling debut at Paris Fashion Week in 2018, later walking for Miu Miu and Kate Spade New York. Her screen projects during this period included the film trilogy Fear Street (2021) and Taylor Swift's All Too Well: The Short Film (2021).

Sink starred as Ellie in Darren Aronofsky's psychological drama The Whale (2022), receiving a nomination for the Critics' Choice Award for Best Young Actor/Actress. She subsequently appeared in the films Dear Zoe (2022), A Sacrifice (2024), and O'Dessa. In 2025, she returned to Broadway in John Proctor Is the Villain, earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Play.

Sink made her West End debut as Juliet in Romeo and Juliet in 2026. She joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Jean Grey, starting with Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) and upcoming appearances in Avengers: Secret Wars (2027) and an untitled X-Men film (2028). Her future projects include executive producing a film adaptation of John Proctor Is the Villain and starring in a television adaptation of The Marriage Plot.
