Rupert Grint

Rupert Alexander Lloyd Grint is an English actor who rose to international fame for portraying Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter film series. Cast at the age of eleven with no prior professional acting experience, he played the character across all eight films in the franchise, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 2001 and concluding with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011.

Grint was born on 24 August 1988 in Harlow, Essex, to Nigel Grint, a dealer in racing memorabilia, and Joanne Grint. The eldest of five siblings, he grew up in Watton-at-Stone, Hertfordshire, and attended Richard Hale School in Hertford. Raised Catholic, he developed an interest in theatre during his school years, performing in school productions and joining the local Top Hat Stage and Screen School. He left school at age sixteen to focus on his acting career.

In 1999, casting began for the film adaptation of J. K. Rowling's novel Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. A fan of the books, Grint auditioned by submitting a video of himself rapping about his desire for the role of Ron Weasley. He was selected alongside Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson in August 2000. The 2001 film marked his professional screen debut, becoming the highest-grossing film of the year and earning Grint a Satellite Award for Outstanding New Talent as well as a Young Artist Award for Most Promising Young Newcomer.

Throughout the 2000s, Grint continued playing Ron Weasley in successive instalments of the series, including Chamber of Secrets (2002), Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), Goblet of Fire (2005), Order of the Phoenix (2007), and Half-Blood Prince (2009). The franchise concluded with the two-part adaptation of Deathly Hallows in 2010 and 2011, both of which were major critical and commercial successes. Over the course of the franchise, Grint received additional accolades, including an Otto Award from Bravo magazine.

Alongside his work on Harry Potter, Grint took on roles in other feature films. His first non-franchise project was the 2002 comedy Thunderpants, followed by the dramedy Driving Lessons in 2006. He later starred in the drama Cherrybomb in 2009 and the comedy thriller Wild Target in 2010. In 2011, he appeared in the music video for Ed Sheeran's song Lego House and was cast in the Norwegian anti-war feature Into the White, which was released in 2012.

Following the end of the Harry Potter franchise, Grint expanded his acting career across film, theatre, and television. His film credits include Charlie Countryman, CBGB, Moonwalkers, and Knock at the Cabin. In 2013, he made his stage debut in Mojo at the Harold Pinter Theatre. On television, he starred in and executive-produced the series Snatch, and held prominent roles in Sick Note, The ABC Murders, and Servant.
