Heather Graham

Heather Joan Graham is an American actress who rose to prominence through her work across feature films and television series. Over the course of her career, she has earned nominations for two Screen Actors Guild Awards, an Independent Spirit Award, a Critics' Choice Movie Award, and a Saturn Award. Known for her versatility in both independent cinema and major studio releases, she gained widespread recognition through comedic and dramatic roles in high-profile feature films.

Born on January 29, 1970, in Milwaukee, Graham is the older of two daughters born to a schoolteacher and children's book author mother and a retired FBI agent father. Her family moved several times before settling in Agoura Hills, California, when she was nine years old. Her interest in performing began during a school theater production. Following high school, she enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she studied English for two years before departing higher education against her parents' wishes to focus fully on her acting career.

Graham made early screen appearances in commercial projects and minor television and film roles before securing her first leading feature role in the 1988 teen comedy License to Drive, which earned her a Young Artist Award nomination. She achieved critical notice for her performance in Gus Van Sant's 1989 drama Drugstore Cowboy, receiving an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. During the early 1990s, she joined the cast of the television series Twin Peaks as Annie Blackburn, later reprising the character in the prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, alongside roles in films such as Six Degrees of Separation and Swingers.

Her industry standing expanded significantly following her praised role in the 1997 drama Boogie Nights, which garnered the ensemble a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination. She subsequently starred in major commercial successes, including the comedy Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me and the comedy film Bowfinger in 1999. Expanding her work behind the camera, she wrote and made her feature directorial debut with the 2018 comedy Half Magic, followed by writing, directing, and starring in the 2024 film Chosen Family. Beyond screen acting, she has lent her voice to video games, including EverQuest 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

In addition to her entertainment career, Graham engages in public advocacy and humanitarian efforts. She serves as a public advocate for Children International and supports the Cambodian Children's Fund, assisting efforts to provide education, healthcare, and resources to vulnerable communities. She has also participated in environmental campaigns, including supporting the climate initiative Global Cool.
