Camila Mendes

Camila Carraro Mendes is an American actress and producer best known for her television breakthrough as Veronica Lodge on The CW teen drama series Riverdale. Following her television success, she transitioned into film, taking on leading and supporting roles across genres ranging from romantic comedies to thrillers. In addition to acting, she has expanded her career into behind-the-scenes production.

Mendes was born on June 29, 1994, in Charlottesville, Virginia, to Brazilian parents. Her father worked as a business executive and her mother as a flight attendant, and she grew up with an older sister. Due to her father's career and her parents' later divorce, Mendes moved 16 times across the Southern United States during her youth, living primarily in Florida. At age ten, she lived in Brazil for a year, acquiring fluency in Portuguese. She attended the Fine Arts program at the American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida, graduating in 2012, before earning a degree from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in May 2016. Identifying as Brazilian American and Latin American, she has spoken about the dual cultural influences shaping her identity.

Mendes began her professional acting career appearing in an IKEA commercial. In 2016, she was cast in her breakout role as high school student Veronica Lodge on the Archie Comics-inspired series Riverdale, which aired from 2017 to 2023. For her performance, she won the Teen Choice Award for Choice Scene Stealer in 2017. Represented initially by the Carson Kolker Organization and later by CAA, Mendes made her feature film debut as Morgan in the 2018 movie The New Romantic, which premiered at the SXSW Festival. She followed this with roles in films including the 2019 romantic comedy The Perfect Date and the drama Coyote Lake.

Mendes expanded her film filmography with an appearance in the 2020 sci-fi comedy Palm Springs, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and streamed on Hulu. That same year, she headlined the Netflix thriller film Dangerous Lies. In 2022, she co-starred opposite Maya Hawke in the Netflix teen black comedy Do Revenge, playing a high school student named Drea seeking vengeance against her ex-boyfriend, a performance that earned critical praise.

In 2024, Mendes starred in two romantic comedy films released by Amazon Prime: Upgraded, in which she portrayed art world intern Ana Santos, and Música, which premiered at the SXSW Festival. In June 2024, she co-founded the production company Honor Role alongside Rachel Matthews, which hired Meredith Ditlow in February 2026 to oversee its film and television divisions. Among her subsequent acting projects, Mendes was cast as Teela in the live-action fantasy film Masters of the Universe alongside Nicholas Galitzine.

In her personal life, Mendes was in relationships with photographer and director Ian Wallace from 2013 to 2017, and her Riverdale co-star Charles Melton between 2018 and 2019. While working on the film Música, she met actor and internet personality Rudy Mancuso. The couple began dating in 2022 and became engaged on October 24, 2025.
