Vinnie Jones

Vincent Peter Jones is a British actor, television presenter, and former professional footballer. During his athletic career spanning from 1984 to 1999, he played primarily as a defensive midfielder and was best recognized for his tenure with Wimbledon, where he won the FA Cup in 1988 as a prominent member of the team's "Crazy Gang." Known for a physically intense playing style, his tough image on the pitch transitioned into his performing career, where he frequently portrays aggressive characters and enforcers.

Born on 5 January 1965 in Watford, Hertfordshire, Jones was raised by his parents, Glenda and Peter Jones. He spent his youth attending local schools in Bedmond and Abbots Langley, captaining his school's football team and playing for a local club in Bedmond. His ancestral background included an Irish grandmother and a Welsh grandmother, the latter of whom made him eligible to represent Wales internationally later in his career.

Jones began his football path in local amateur leagues before signing a semi-professional contract with Wealdstone in 1984, briefly playing on loan with Swedish club IFK Holmsund in 1986. He turned fully professional later that year after joining Wimbledon, where he played over 200 matches across two spells. He also spent seasons with Leeds United, winning the Second Division title in 1990, alongside stints at Sheffield United, Chelsea, and Queens Park Rangers. Internationally, he earned nine caps and captained the Welsh national team between 1994 and 1997.

Following his transition into entertainment, Jones made his feature film debut in Guy Ritchie's 1998 crime comedy Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. His performance earned him an Empire Award for Best Newcomer. He reteamed with Ritchie for the 2000 film Snatch, receiving the Empire Award for Best British Actor. That same year, he expanded into American cinema with a prominent role in Gone in 60 Seconds, followed by an appearance in the 2001 thriller Swordfish.

Throughout the 2000s and 2010s, Jones secured varied roles in feature films. He starred as the lead in Mean Machine in 2001, played a comic book villain in X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006, and appeared in projects such as EuroTrip, She's the Man, The Condemned, The Midnight Meat Train, Year One, and Escape Plan. In addition to live-action performances, he provided character voice work for the animated feature Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted in 2012.

Beyond feature films, Jones has appeared across television, reality broadcasts, and international productions. His television credits include guest and recurring appearances on Extras, The Cape, The Musketeers, MacGyver, and NCIS: Los Angeles, alongside appearances on Celebrity Big Brother in 2010 and the Australian version of The Masked Singer in 2021. His recent screen work includes featured roles in the movie The Big Ugly in 2020 and the television series The Gentlemen in 2024.
