Becky G

Rebbeca Marie Gomez, known professionally as Becky G, is an American singer and actress born on March 2, 1997. She first gained public recognition in 2011 after posting videos of herself performing cover versions of popular songs on YouTube. She achieved commercial success in 2014 with her single "Shower" before transitioning into the Latin music market, where she released multiple studio albums. Alongside her music career, she has acted in television series and feature films.

Gomez was born in Inglewood, California, and raised in Moreno Valley as the oldest of four children born to American parents of Mexican descent. At age nine, her family lost their home due to financial hardship and relocated to her grandparents' converted garage, later moving to Minnetonka, Minnesota. To assist her family financially, Gomez began taking part-time commercial and voice-over work, deciding at nine to pursue a career in music. Due to severe bullying at public school, she was later homeschooled. In her early teens, she appeared in short films and television movies, joined the music groups Kidz Bop, G.L.A.M., and B.C.G., taught herself guitar, and began writing original songs.

After her YouTube cover of "Otis" caught the attention of producer Dr. Luke in 2011, Gomez signed with Kemosabe Records through RCA Records. She contributed features to songs by Cody Simpson, Cher Lloyd, and will.i.am before releasing her debut single, "Becky from the Block," and her debut EP, Play It Again, in 2013. Her mainstream breakthrough arrived in 2014 with "Shower," which reached the top twenty on the US Billboard Hot 100. During this period, she opened select dates for Demi Lovato and Katy Perry on tour, released additional singles, and guest-starred as Valentina Galindo on the television series Empire.

In 2016, Gomez released "Sola," her first full Spanish-language single, marking her entry into Latin music. She followed this with successful singles and collaborations, including "Mayores," "Sin Pijama," and "Cuando Te Besé." Expanding her acting career, she starred as Trini Kwan, the Yellow Ranger, in the 2017 film Power Rangers. Her subsequent screen projects included roles in the films A.X.L. (2018), Gnome Alone, and Blue Beetle (2023).

Gomez's debut studio album, Mala Santa (2019), debuted in the top five on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart. Her second album, Esquemas (2022), contained the Hot Latin Songs number-one single "Mamiii." She then released two regional Mexican albums, Esquinas (2023) and Encuentros (2024), both generating number-one singles on the Regional Mexican Airplay chart. In 2026, she launched her fifth studio album, Baraja Bendita. A documentary film titled Rebbeca, detailing her personal life and the creation of Esquinas, was released in 2025.

Over the course of her career, Gomez has earned three American Music Awards, a Billboard Latin Music Award, nine Latin American Music Awards, five Lo Nuestro Awards, three People's Choice Awards, and seven Premios Juventud. She was listed on Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2023 and Time 100 in 2025, and received Billboard's Impact Award in 2023 and Global Impact Award in 2026. From 2021 to 2024, she operated her cosmetic brand, Treslúce Beauty. She also actively advocates for mental health, gender equality, immigrant rights, and the empowerment of the Latino community.
