Austin Mahone

Austin Harris Mahone is an American singer who gained initial recognition performing pop song covers on YouTube. Born on April 4, 1996, in San Antonio, Texas, he was raised as a Catholic by his single mother after his father passed away when Mahone was a year and a half old. He is of English, French, German, and Slovak descent. Mahone briefly attended Lady Bird Johnson High School in San Antonio before leaving after his freshman year to be homeschooled at his grandmother's house.

Mahone began uploading videos to YouTube in June 2010, building an online following. In 2012, he independently released his debut single "11:11" before signing with Chase Records in a joint venture with Republic Records. He released early singles such as "Say Somethin'", "Say You're Just a Friend" featuring Flo Rida, and "What About Love". The latter marked his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned a gold certification from the RIAA. In 2013, Mahone released his debut self-titled extended play (EP) exclusively in Japan and served as an opening act on Taylor Swift's Red Tour.

In 2014, Mahone released the single "Mmm Yeah" featuring Pitbull, which reached number 49 on the Billboard Hot 100 and received an RIAA platinum certification. The track served as the lead single for his second EP, The Secret, which debuted at number five on the Billboard 200. Following the release of his single "Dirty Work" in 2015, he parted ways with his record labels to join Pitbull's Mr. 305 Inc. During this period, Mahone released independent tracks on SoundCloud and put out two mixtapes: This Is Not the Album in 2015 and ForMe+You in 2016.

The single "Dirty Work" achieved sleeper hit status in Japan in 2017 after being featured in a comedy routine by Blouson Chiemi, eventually earning platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. This success led to the release of his debut studio album, Dirty Work – The Album (2017), exclusively in Japan. That same year, Mahone achieved two number-one hits on the US Dance Club Songs chart with "Lady" featuring Pitbull and "Creatures of the Night" with Hardwell. In 2018, he released his fourth EP, Oxygen, also exclusively in Japan.

Between 2019 and 2021, Mahone released several singles, including "Why Don't We", "Anxious", "Dancing with Nobody", and "Miami", alongside his SoundCloud EP Magic City. In 2023, he released his second studio album, A Lone Star Story, which marked a full transition from pop music to country music. He followed the album with singles including "Sooner or Later" in 2024 and "Rearview" in 2025. Outside of music releases, Mahone joined OnlyFans in 2020 and was charged by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in March 2023 regarding illegal promotion of crypto securities.
