In his youth, Galitzine was active in sports, playing rugby for the Harlequins Academy along with football and track. After injuries ended his athletic ambitions, he developed an interest in acting when friends persuaded him to audition for a staging of Spring Awakening. Following his time with the youth theatre company Pleasance Islington, he chose to work toward a professional acting career instead of pursuing higher education.
Galitzine made his professional acting debut in the 2014 feature film The Beat Beneath My Feet, playing a musically inclined teenager.
