Swan gained further prominent television roles starting in 2011 when she starred as Erica Reed in the A&E drama series Breakout Kings, which ran until 2012 and filmed prison scenes inside active facilities. She subsequently starred as Paige Arkin in the USA Network action drama series Graceland from 2013 to 2015. In 2017, she played Zera in the film The Veil, portrayed Medusa in the Marvel and ABC series Inhumans, appeared in HBO's Ballers, and portrayed Anne Bancroft in the first season of Feud.

In late 2018, Swan was cast as the lead character Jenny Cooper in the CBC drama series Coroner, adapted from novels by M. R. Hall. The show premiered in January 2019, and in June 2020, American network The CW picked up the broadcast rights. Swan headlined the show for four seasons before departing in June 2022. In September 2022, it was announced that she was joining the cast of Reacher for its second season. Outside of acting, she is the director and cofounder of the online education technology company Blueprint Kids.
