Sarah Roemer

Sarah Christine Roemer is an American actress and model. She is best known for her supporting role in the thriller film Disturbia, as well as her roles in television series such as The Event and Chosen. Throughout her acting career, she has appeared in a variety of feature films, independent projects, and television programs.

Roemer was born on August 28, 1984, in San Diego, California. At age 15, she was recruited by a modeling agency while at a 7-Eleven. She attended Horizon Junior and Senior High School before relocating to Los Angeles to begin her career in modeling.

Her modeling career included signing with ID Model Management in New York City. Over the course of her modeling work, she was featured in publications such as GQ, Cosmopolitan, Maxim, Esquire, Nylon Guys, Self, Interview, and Flaunt. Additionally, she appeared as the cover model for the summer 2004 issue of Sportswear International magazine.

Roemer made her screen acting debut in the independent film Wristcutters: A Love Story. In 2006, she portrayed high school student and cheerleader Lacey Kimble in the horror film The Grudge 2, which was a box office success following its release on October 13, 2006. In 2007, she starred as Ashley Carlson alongside Shia LaBeouf in the Paramount Pictures thriller Disturbia. The film opened at number one at the box office, received positive critical reception, and grossed $117.8 million against a $20 million budget. That same year, she appeared in the Kate Hudson–directed short film Cutlass alongside Dakota Fanning, Kristen Stewart, and Virginia Madsen.

Roemer's film work continued with the 2008 straight-to-DVD release Asylum, directed by David Ellis. In 2009, she appeared in the teen comedy Fired Up! and played Andy Wilson, the daughter of Richard Gere's character, in Hachi: A Dog's Tale, an American adaptation of the 1987 Japanese film Hachikō Monogatari. Her other 2009 projects included the straight-to-DVD independent film Falling Up and an appearance in the music video for David Cook's song "Come Back to Me."

In 2010, Roemer portrayed Emma Sawyer in the independent thriller Locked In, on which she also served as an associate producer. She played the central character Madison Walker in the independent drama Waking Madison and appeared as Kristen in the independent romantic comedy The Con Artist. Later in 2010, she starred as Leila Buchanan in the NBC drama series The Event, which ran until May 13, 2011.

In 2014, Roemer began dating her Chosen co-star Chad Michael Murray. The couple announced their marriage in January 2015. They have three children together: a son born in 2015, a daughter born in 2017, and a second daughter born in 2023.
