Phoebe Waller-Bridge

Phoebe Mary Waller-Bridge is an English actress, screenwriter, and producer born on 14 July 1985. She is best known as the creator, writer, and star of the comedy series Fleabag (2016–2019), which brought her widespread acclaim and major industry awards. She also created, wrote, and starred in the comedy series Crashing (2016), developed and wrote the spy thriller series Killing Eve (2018–2022), and contributed to major film screenplays and feature films across her career.

Waller-Bridge was born in Hammersmith, London, to Michael Cyprian Waller-Bridge, founder of the electronic trading platform Tradepoint, and Theresa Mary. She grew up in Ealing, London, alongside her older sister Isobel, a composer with whom she later collaborated, and her younger brother Jasper. She was educated at St Augustine's Priory and DLD College London before training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, graduating in 2006.

Her performing career began in theatre in 2007, when she co-founded the DryWrite Theatre Company with Vicky Jones. Her early stage performance credits include productions such as Roaring Trade, Rope, Hay Fever, and Mydidae. In November 2012, Waller-Bridge wrote and performed a short version of Fleabag, which premiered in its full theatrical form at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2013. Around the same time, she began appearing on television and in film, securing roles in shows like The Café and Broadchurch, as well as feature films including Albert Nobbs and The Iron Lady.

In 2016, Waller-Bridge created, wrote, and starred in her first television series, Crashing, which aired on Channel 4 and later streamed on Netflix. That same year, Fleabag was adapted for television, broadcasting on BBC Three and BBC Two before streaming globally on Amazon Video. The show concluded with its second series in 2019, earning Waller-Bridge three Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and a British Academy Television Award.

Alongside her work on Fleabag, Waller-Bridge wrote and executive produced the television series Killing Eve, receiving nominations for Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe awards for her writing and production work. In film, she voiced and performed the droid L3-37 in Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018), co-wrote the screenplay for the James Bond film No Time to Die (2021), and starred as Helena Shaw in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023).

Waller-Bridge formed her own production house, Wells Street Films, in 2020. She executive produced and acted in the HBO series Run, directed a music video for Phoebe Bridgers, and appeared in a music video for Harry Styles. Continuing her overall creative deal with Amazon Studios, which was renewed for an additional three years in 2023, her ongoing developments include adapting the novel Sign Here and developing a Tomb Raider television series.
