Phoebe Bridgers

Phoebe Lucille Bridgers, born August 17, 1994, is an American singer-songwriter and record producer. Her indie folk music typically centers on acoustic guitar and electronic production, featuring melancholic lyrical themes. She is widely known for her acclaimed solo studio albums, as well as her work as a member of the indie supergroup Boygenius and the duo Better Oblivion Community Center. Across her career, she has won four Grammy Awards from eleven nominations.

Bridgers was raised in Pasadena, California, and also spent part of her childhood in Ukiah, California. Her mother worked in real estate and stand-up comedy, while her father was a set builder for film and television. She began playing guitar around age 13 and busked at the Pasadena Farmers Market. After graduating from the Sequoyah School, she studied vocal jazz at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. She was accepted to the Berklee College of Music in Boston but dropped out after orientation to pursue music full-time.

During high school, Bridgers performed with groups such as Einstein's Dirty Secrets and Sloppy Jane while playing solo shows around Los Angeles. After appearing in an Apple commercial with Sloppy Jane, she gained financial independence to record her debut album alongside producer Tony Berg. In 2017, she signed with the independent label Dead Oceans and released her debut solo studio album, Stranger in the Alps, to critical acclaim. Songs from the album were subsequently featured in numerous television series.

In 2018, Bridgers formed the supergroup Boygenius with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, releasing an eponymous EP. The following year, she launched Better Oblivion Community Center with Conor Oberst, releasing a self-titled album. Bridgers released her second solo studio album, Punisher, in June 2020 to widespread critical praise. The record earned four Grammy Award nominations, and she supported it with high-profile performances, including an appearance as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live. Later in 2020, she established her own record label imprint, Saddest Factory.

Known as a frequent collaborator, Bridgers has featured on tracks with artists including Taylor Swift, SZA, the 1975, Kid Cudi, The Killers, and the National. Her feature on SZA's track "Ghost in the Machine" won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. In 2023, Boygenius reunited to release their debut studio album, The Record, and the EP The Rest. At the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, Bridgers was the most awarded artist of the night, winning three Grammys with Boygenius and one with SZA.

Following her Grammy wins, Bridgers went on a planned hiatus through 2024 and 2025. She returned in May 2026 with surprise pop-up concerts in New Mexico, Texas, and Arkansas, where she debuted new music. She followed these appearances with her third studio album, Lost Weekend, a benefit concert at Madison Square Garden, and an international phone-free concert series titled The Lost Tour.
