Harry Styles

Harry Edward Styles is an English singer, songwriter, and actor born on 1 February 1994. Known for his showmanship, artistry, and fashion, he first gained public recognition in 2010 as a member of the boy band One Direction. Following the group's decision to enter an indefinite hiatus in 2016, Styles established a successful solo career in both music and film.

Styles was born in Redditch, Worcestershire, England, to Anne and Desmond Styles. He grew up in the village of Holmes Chapel in Cheshire alongside his older sister, Gemma. His parents divorced when he was seven years old, and his mother later remarried. As a child, Styles sang covers on a karaoke machine. While attending Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School, he served as the lead singer for the band White Eskimo. At the age of 16, he worked part-time at a local bakery, delivered newspapers, and worked at a stable.

In April 2010, Styles auditioned for the seventh series of the televised singing competition series The X Factor. After being eliminated as a solo contestant, he joined Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik to form One Direction. Mentored by Simon Cowell, the group reached the show's final and signed with Syco Records in early 2011. One Direction subsequently released five studio albums—Up All Night, Take Me Home, Midnight Memories, Four, and Made in the A.M.—becoming one of the best-selling boy bands of all time before going on hiatus in 2016.

Styles launched his solo recording career through Erskine and Columbia Records, releasing his debut solo single, "Sign of the Times," in 2017. It peaked at number one on the UK Singles Chart, while his self-titled debut album topped charts in several countries, including the UK and the United States. That same year, Styles made his feature film debut as a British soldier in Christopher Nolan's World War II war film Dunkirk and embarked on his first solo concert tour, Harry Styles: Live on Tour.

In 2019, Styles released his second solo album, Fine Line, which topped the US charts and set the largest first-week sales record for an English male artist in the United States. Its single "Watermelon Sugar" became his first US number-one hit. His third album, Harry's House (2022), was led by the global number-one single "As It Was" and received the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. His fourth album, Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally (2026), featured the global number-one singles "Aperture" and "American Girls".

Beyond music, Styles has appeared in films such as Eternals, Don't Worry Darling, and My Policeman. In 2021, he launched the gender-neutral skin and nail care brand Pleasing. He has modeled for Gucci and became the first man to appear solo on the cover of Vogue. Styles contributes to charities and advocates for gender, racial, and LGBTQ equality. His accolades include six Brit Awards, three Grammy Awards, two Ivor Novello Awards, three American Music Awards, and four MTV Video Music Awards.
