Will Arnett

William Emerson Arnett (born May 4, 1970) is a Canadian and American actor and comedian. He is widely recognized for his roles as George Oscar "Gob" Bluth II in the sitcom Arrested Development (2003–2019) and as the titular character in the animated series BoJack Horseman (2014–2020). Known for his deep baritone voice, Arnett has received nominations for seven Primetime Emmy Awards and three Screen Actors Guild Awards throughout his career.

Arnett was born in Toronto, Ontario, to Edith Alexandra and Emerson James Arnett, a corporate lawyer and brewer who served as president and CEO of Molson Breweries. Raised alongside older twin sisters and a younger brother, his family lineage traces back generations in Manitoba. Encouraged by his mother to pursue acting, Arnett attended Leaside High School and briefly studied at Concordia University before moving to New York City in 1990 to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. His early career included theatrical plays, independent film work, failed television pilots, and hosting a Pay-Per-View event for Woodstock '94.

Following personal struggles with alcoholism and numerous un-picked-up pilots in the late 1990s and early 2000s, Arnett achieved his career breakthrough in 2003 with Arrested Development. His performance earned him his first Emmy nomination and led to expanded opportunities in comedy. He went on to portray Devon Banks in the NBC sitcom 30 Rock (2007–2013), a recurring guest role that earned him four Emmy nominations. He later starred in television series such as Running Wilde, Up All Night, The Millers, Flaked—which he also co-created and co-wrote—and the detective comedy Murderville.

Arnett's distinctive voice has led to extensive voice-over work in advertising, television promos, and animated feature films. His notable voice roles include Vlad in Horton Hears a Who!, The Missing Link in Monsters vs. Aliens, Horst in Ratatouille, Mr. Perkins in Despicable Me, and Batman across The Lego Movie franchise. In live-action films, he has appeared in comedies including Let's Go to Prison, Blades of Glory, Hot Rod, Semi-Pro, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and its 2016 sequel, as well as the 2025 film Is This Thing On?, which he co-wrote.

Beyond acting, Arnett co-founded the digital production company DumbDumb Productions alongside Jason Bateman in 2010. From 2020 to 2025, he hosted the Fox reality competition series Lego Masters, and since 2020, he has co-hosted the comedy talk podcast SmartLess with Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes. A dual citizen of Canada and the United States, Arnett resides in Los Angeles. He was previously married to actress Penelope Ann Miller and actress Amy Poehler, with whom he has two sons, and he has a third son with former partner Alessandra Brawn.
