Wi Ha-joon

Wi Ha-joon, born Wi Hyun-yi, is a South Korean actor represented by the talent agency MSTeam Entertainment. He is widely recognized for his performance as police officer Hwang Jun-ho in the worldwide television hit Squid Game. Over the course of his career, Wi has built a prominent screen portfolio encompassing major television series and feature films.

Wi was born on August 5, 1991, on the island of Soando, located in Wanju County, South Jeolla Province. He spent his early life growing up on an abalone farm operated by his family. He later pursued higher education at Sungkyul University, majoring in theatre and film, and completed his required military service before launching his professional acting career.

Wi made his acting debut in 2012 by starring in the short film Peace in Them. Following several minor film appearances, he gained wider industry attention after securing a lead role in the 2018 feature film Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum. That same year, he landed a supporting role in the television series Something in the Rain.

In 2019, Wi co-starred alongside Lee Jong-suk, Lee Na-young, and Jung Yoo-jin in the drama series Romance Is a Bonus Book. His praised work in the project earned him a nomination for Best New Actor - Television at the 55th Baeksang Arts Awards. The following year, he portrayed a prominent baseball player in the drama 18 Again, an adaptation of the American film 17 Again.

Wi achieved global prominence in 2021 through his role in the Netflix drama Squid Game, playing a police officer who covertly infiltrates a deadly competition to track down his missing brother. The critically acclaimed series won six Primetime Emmy Awards and the Grand Prize at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards, and Wi returned as the same character in both the second season in 2024 and the third season in 2025.

Also in 2021, Wi starred in the film Shark: The Beginning, played a serial killer in the thriller feature Midnight, and shared the screen with Lee Dong-wook in the series Bad and Crazy. His achievements led GQ Korea to select him as one of its Men of the Year in 2022. That same year, he starred in Netflix's Little Women, a series that achieved double-digit viewership ratings for its final episode in South Korea.

In 2023, Wi appeared in two major streaming series: Disney's The Worst of Evil alongside Ji Chang-wook and Im Se-mi, and Netflix's Gyeongseong Creature alongside an ensemble cast including Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee. Following his role in the 2024 drama The Midnight Romance in Hagwon, Wi starred in the 2026 TvN romantic thriller Siren's Kiss, adapted from Hisashi Nozawa's 1999 Japanese television series Ice World.
