Ji Chang-wook

Ji Chang-wook is a South Korean actor and singer who achieved widespread recognition through his lead roles in television and film. He rose to fame starring in the daily drama series Smile Again, and gained further prominence through main performances in television series such as Warrior Baek Dong-soo, Empress Ki, Healer, The K2, Suspicious Partner, The Worst of Evil, and Welcome to Samdal-ri, as well as the action film Fabricated City.

Ji began his career in musical theatre and made his onscreen debut in the 2006 short film Days... After taking a minor role in the 2008 television drama You Stole My Heart, he made his official feature film debut in Sleeping Beauty that same year. In 2009, he appeared in the high-rated weekend family drama My Too Perfect Sons, playing a young man raising his best friend's child, followed by a supporting role in the action-comedy Hero.

In 2010, Ji played his first lead television role as a short track speed skater in the daily drama Smile Again, which led ratings for 15 consecutive weeks and earned him the Best Actor in a Daily Drama award at the KBS Drama Awards. He followed with the titular role in the 2011 historical-action series Warrior Baek Dong-soo, receiving a New Star Award at the SBS Drama Awards. That same year, he starred in Bachelor's Vegetable Store, played his first antagonist role as a pianist in the 2012 drama Five Fingers, and returned to musical theatre in 2013 with The Days.

Ji achieved a major career breakthrough playing Emperor Toghon Temür in the historical drama Empress Ki, earning critical acclaim in a show with a 35.12 percent average rating. He then starred in the action-thriller Healer, expanding his popularity across China and Asia, which led to roles in Mandarin dramas like The Whirlwind Girl 2 and Mr. Right. In 2016, he starred in the action-thriller The K2 and featured in the web series 7 First Kisses.

In 2017, Ji starred in the feature film Fabricated City and the romantic-comedy thriller Suspicious Partner. He served his mandatory military service from August 2017 to April 2019 in the South Korean Army, serving as a Platoon Leader and rising to the rank of Sergeant. Following his discharge, Ji starred in television projects including Melting Me Softly, Backstreet Rookie, Lovestruck in the City, the film Hard Hit, The Sound of Magic, and If You Wish Upon Me.

In early 2023, Ji ended his contract with Glorious Entertainment and joined Spring Company. He was cast as the lead in the series The Manipulated and scheduled an event performance in Manila for October 2025. Throughout his career, Ji has participated in various philanthropic endeavors, donating to disaster relief efforts, COVID-19 medical response, organizations supporting disabled individuals, and early childhood education initiatives.
