Kim Min-gyu

Kim Min-gyu, known mononymously as Mingyu, is a South Korean rapper, singer, and songwriter. Born on April 6, 1997, in Anyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, he is best known as a member of the South Korean boy band Seventeen, managed by Pledis Entertainment. Within the group, he performs as a lead rapper and visual, and he is a core member of Seventeen's Hip-Hop Team sub-unit.

Mingyu was scouted by Pledis Entertainment in 2011 while attending middle school. During his trainee years, he gained early public exposure by appearing in the online reality program "Seventeen TV" and featuring in music videos for other Pledis Entertainment artists. Seventeen officially debuted in May 2015 with the extended play "17 Carat". The group quickly gained prominence, establishing a reputation as a self-producing idol group and releasing a succession of successful studio albums and mini-albums.

Throughout his career, Mingyu has actively participated in songwriting and creative direction for Seventeen's releases. Beyond group projects, he has pursued various sub-unit and individual ventures, including collaborating with bandmate Wonwoo on the 2021 single "Bittersweet" featuring Lee Hi. He has also hosted music television shows, such as SBS's "Inkigayo," and appeared on numerous South Korean variety broadcasts.

In addition to his music and broadcast work, Mingyu has established a presence in fashion and advertising. He has served as a brand ambassador and model for several international luxury, beauty, and apparel companies. Mingyu continues to record, perform, and tour globally as an active member of Seventeen.
