He is best known as a member of the South Korean boy band Seventeen, managed by Pledis Entertainment, and is part of the group's Hip-Hop Team sub-unit. Born on July 17, 1996, in Changwon, South Korea, he attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul before pursuing higher education in practical music.
After becoming a trainee at Pledis Entertainment in 2011, Wonwoo trained for several years before officially debuting with Seventeen in May 2015 with their debut extended play, 17 Carat. Within the group, he has contributed as a lead rapper, vocalist, and songwriter, participating in the lyrical composition of numerous tracks across Seventeen's discography. In addition to group activities, he released the digital single Bittersweet alongside bandmate Mingyu featuring Lee Hi in May 2021.
In June 2024, Wonwoo formed the official sub-unit JxW alongside bandmate Jeonghan, releasing the single album This Man. Beyond his music career, he has engaged in fashion and promotional activities, appearing in various magazine features and brand endorsements alongside his group commitments.
