Dino was born on February 11, 1999, in Iksan, North Jeolla, South Korea. He attended Seoul Broadcasting High School, graduating in 2017. Early media appearances included SBS's Live Today 1 and Truth Game in 2006, KBS's Show Power Video, and an audition on MBC's Star Audition: The Great Birth 2 in 2011. He officially joined Pledis as a trainee in 2012, participating in the online reality show Seventeen TV and related Like Seventeen concerts.

In May 2015, Dino debuted as a member of Seventeen with the extended play 17 Carat. Following his high school graduation, he released self-written solo songs on SoundCloud, including "0 (Zero)" and "The Real Thing" in 2017, both produced with Bumzu. He later debuted the solo track "Last Order" at Seventeen's 2021 Power of Love online concert and released the digital single "High-Five" in June 2022.

Dino expanded his activities with various collaborative and solo projects in 2023 and beyond. Outside his standard musical releases, Dino created the alter ego Picheolin, a 58-year-old countryside character who first appeared in a 2021 skit. Picheolin featured prominently in episodes of Going Seventeen and performed at the 38th Golden Disc Awards. Under this persona, Dino released the solo extended play Gilboard (吉Board) and its lead single "Party Rock Rock" on August 3, 2026.
