Jo In-sung

Jo In-sung, also referred to as Zo In-sung, is a South Korean actor who gained wide recognition through prominent roles across television and film. On television, he is known for starring in series such as Something Happened in Bali, Spring Day, That Winter, the Wind Blows, It's Okay, That's Love, and Moving. His notable feature film credits include The Classic, A Dirty Carnival, A Frozen Flower, The King, The Great Battle, and Escape from Mogadishu. He has also starred in the reality television program Unexpected Business.

Born and raised in the Gangdong District of Seoul, Jo initially pursued higher education in modeling and events management at Chunnam Techno University. He subsequently enrolled as a Theater and Film major at Dongguk University, though he was expelled in 2007 due to insufficient class attendance.

Jo entered the entertainment industry in 1998 as a commercial model for the clothing brand Ziozia. He transitioned to acting in 1999 with the sitcom Jump, followed by appearances in the teen drama School 3 and the sitcom Nonstop. He began gaining wider attention through a supporting performance in the 2001 drama Piano. The following year, he secured his first leading television role in Shoot for the Stars and made his feature film debut in Public Toilet. In 2003, he appeared in three romantic films, including director Kwak Jae-yong's drama The Classic.

His mainstream breakthrough expanded significantly in 2004 with the drama Something Happened in Bali, which achieved high viewership ratings and earned him Best Actor honors at both the Baeksang Arts Awards and SBS Drama Awards. He followed this with the 2005 series Spring Day. During this period, Jo also collaborated with director Yoo Ha on two feature films, playing a small-time mobster in the 2006 drama A Dirty Carnival and portraying a Goryeo-era royal bodyguard in the 2008 film A Frozen Flower.

In April 2009, Jo enlisted for his mandatory military service, serving 25 months in the Air Force and the Air Force military band before his discharge in May 2011. Following his service, he signed with IOK Company in 2012. He returned to television in 2013 with the drama That Winter, the Wind Blows. In 2014, he starred in It's Okay, That's Love, earning the Grand Prize (Daesang) at the APAN Star Awards.

Jo's career continued with prominent film projects, including the crime thriller The King in 2017 and the historical feature The Great Battle in 2018. Alongside his acting, Jo has been an active promotional model for commercial brands spanning electronics, apparel, cosmetics, and food products. Outside his professional career, Jo donated 500 million won to the MIRAL Welfare Foundation to build a school in Tanzania. After 13 years with IOK Company, he decided not to renew his contract in March 2025 and established Basecamp Company alongside actor Cha Tae-hyun.
