Cho Yeo-jeong

Cho Yeo-jeong is a South Korean actress born on February 10, 1981, in Seoul, South Korea. She gained widespread international recognition for her prominent role in the acclaimed 2019 feature film Parasite. The motion picture achieved historical recognition by securing four Academy Awards, becoming the first non-English language release to win Best Picture. In addition to her international breakthrough, Cho has established an extensive screen career in South Korea through major roles in diverse film and television productions.

Her career in the entertainment industry began in 1997 when she featured as a cover model for CeCi Magazine at sixteen years old. She transitioned into acting full-time in 1999, subsequently taking on roles in television drama series, commercial advertisements, and music videos. Despite consistent work, Cho spent her early career in relative obscurity and experienced dissatisfaction with the narrow scope of characters she was offered during this initial period.

Cho achieved a significant career breakthrough in 2010 after starring in the period drama feature film The Servant. The film served as a tragic, modern adaptation of the traditional folktale The Story of Chunhyang. Although multiple performers had declined the role due to its explicit content, Cho accepted the part, which successfully shifted public perception of her abilities and established her as a prominent leading talent. Following this success, she starred in the popular 2011 cable television comedy series I Need Romance, which centered on a group of single women in Seoul.

In 2012, Cho chose to take on another challenging role by starring in Kim Dae-seung's historical thriller film The Concubine, which earned critical acclaim. That same year, she starred in the television series Lovers of Haeundae, portraying the cheerful daughter of a Busan gangster. Outside of acting, she expanded her creative efforts in 2013 by publishing Healing Beauty, a book containing personal health and lifestyle advice gathered over sixteen years in the entertainment field.

During 2013, Cho was involved in a public agency contract dispute regarding overlapping agreements with Didim531 and Bom Entertainment. Following recommendations from the Korea Entertainment Management Association, she subsequently signed with Neos Entertainment in 2014. That year, she reunited with director Kim Dae-woo for the film Obsessed and appeared in the action-thriller The Target, a remake of the French movie Point Blank. In 2015, Cho starred in the female-centered comedy film Casa Amor: Exclusive for Ladies, alongside taking a lead role in the television series Divorce Lawyer in Love.

Cho continued to build a strong television presence in later years, starring in the drama series Woman of 9.9 Billion from 2019 to 2020 and Cheat on Me If You Can from 2020 to 2021. Through her diverse selection of roles across film and television, she has maintained a prominent presence within the South Korean entertainment landscape.
