Wallace Huo

Wallace Huo Chien-hwa is a Taiwanese actor and singer who earned initial fame in Taiwanese television before establishing himself in mainland China. He became a prominent screen figure through a series of top-rated dramas, eventually appearing on the Forbes China Celebrity 100 list across multiple years.

Huo was born in Taipei, Taiwan, to parents originating from Longkou and Tianjin. His family had moved to Taiwan in October 1949 due to his grandfather's ties to Sun Yat-sen. Raised by parents who worked in the legal system alongside a brother who became a police officer, Huo spent his youth in Taipei following his parents' divorce. Although he originally hoped to play basketball, he turned to music in his early teens and entered show business at seventeen as an assistant to television host Sam Tseng.

After debuting in the 2002 series Star, Huo achieved breakout success in the 2003 idol drama At Dolphin Bay. The project's massive viewership triggered immense demand, leading him to appear in seven idol dramas that same year. Although he released his first solo music album, Start, in 2004, the strain of its promotional tour led him to concentrate entirely on acting.

Huo shifted his focus to mainland China in 2005 with his performance in the wuxia series The Royal Swordsmen, which introduced him to a much broader audience, and his feature film debut in Hands in the Hair. He subsequently starred in various television projects, including Sound of Colors, Romance of Red Dust, Emerald on the Roof, and the comedy Love at First Fight, demonstrating his versatility across dramatic and comedic roles.

In 2009, Huo reached mainstream prominence through the hit fantasy series Chinese Paladin 3. He maintained his success with roles in The Vigilantes in Masks, The Glamorous Imperial Concubine, Inspire the Life, Lord of Legal Advisors, and Swordsman. Establishing Huajae Studio, he produced and starred in the 2014 drama Perfect Couple before earning strong critical acclaim for his performance in the war series Battle of Changsha.

Huo reached a career peak in 2015 with the fantasy hit The Journey of Flower and the crime drama Love Me If You Dare, earning recognition as Artist of the Year from China Newsweek. Over the following years, he headlined projects including The Imperial Doctress, the films Reset and Our Time Will Come, the 2018 period drama Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace, and the 2019 releases The Great Craftsman and Somewhere Winter.

In late 2018, Huo closed his official social media presence amid a professional separation from his manager, subsequently stepping back from work to focus on family life in Taiwan. Huo married actress Ruby Lin in 2016, and the couple welcomed a daughter in 2017. Following a brief appearance in the 2021 drama Light the Night, Huo formally returned to acting with the 2024 series The Tale of Rose.
