Miriam Yeung

Miriam Yeung Chin-wah, born on February 3, 1974, is a prominent Hong Kong entertainer known for her work as a singer and actress. Over the course of her career, she has built an extensive discography of Cantonese and Mandarin music alongside a vast filmography, establishing herself as a well-known figure across Asia's entertainment industry.

Before entering show business, Yeung completed her education at Holy Family Canossian College in Kowloon. She subsequently worked as a registered nurse at Princess Margaret Hospital located in Kwai Chung, Hong Kong. Her transition into music and performing occurred in 1995 after she achieved third place in the 14th annual New Talent Singing Awards, a contest co-organized by TVB and Capital Artists.

Following her debut, Yeung established a prolific music career, releasing dozens of albums in both Cantonese and Mandarin. Several of her tracks became major mainstream hits and earned industry accolades, including popular songs such as "Maiden's Prayer," "Sisters," "Unfortunately I'm an Aquarius," and "Small City, Big Things." She also expanded into songwriting, debuting her first self-composed track, "The Writing is on the Wall," in 1997. Additionally, in 2008, she recorded and performed the Cantonese rendition of "It's A Small World" for the official opening of the theme park attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland.

Alongside her musical success, Yeung developed a major screen career, appearing in over 30 feature films that generated roughly US$50 million in global box office revenue, while also providing voice work for three Korean and Thai movies. Her prominent film projects include Sound of Colors, Drink, Drank, Drunk, Hooked on You, Perfect Wedding, Love in a Puff, and Love in the Buff. Beyond screen acting, she authored the 1998 book Miriam Experience of School Entry, which featured short essays, life reflections, and travel journals.

Her acting capabilities brought her significant international and regional recognition. In 2002, she won the Most Popular Artiste Award at Italy's Udine Far East Film Festival. She later secured a Best Actress honor at the 17th Hong Kong Film Critics Society Award for her work in Perfect Wedding, followed by another Best Actress award at the 32nd Hong Kong Film Awards for portraying Cherie Yu in Love in the Buff. Returning to small-screen television in 2019 after an eight-year absence, she starred as the lead in the TVB drama Wonder Women, sharing the Most Popular Female Character award at the TVB Anniversary Awards.

In addition to her creative achievements, Yeung was named one of the Ten Outstanding Young Persons of Hong Kong in 2005 by Junior Chamber International Hong Kong. In her personal life, she began dating former VRF member Real Ting Chi-ko in 2007. The couple married on August 11, 2009, in Las Vegas, later hosting twin wedding banquets in Hong Kong in December 2010. They welcomed their son, Torres Ting, on June 5, 2012.
