Ren Jialun

Ren Jialun, professionally known as Allen Ren and originally named Ren Guochao, is a Chinese actor and musical artist. Born on April 11, 1989, he has established a prominent presence in television dramas across various genres, including historical, wuxia, and modern romantic productions, alongside his work as a recording performer.

Born in Qingdao, Shandong, Ren initially pursued a competitive athletic path. He began training in table tennis at six years old and earned a spot on the Shandong provincial squad by age thirteen, practicing with future top-tier players such as Zhang Jike and Zhou Yu. Physical injuries eventually forced him to step away from professional sports. Following his high school graduation, he worked at Qingdao Liuting International Airport in ground handling and flight service, earning praise for his dedication. During this period, he practiced singing and dancing in his off-hours, participating in talent contests starting in 2008 before eventually resigning to pursue entertainment full-time.

Ren expanded his training through appearances on television programs like Hunan TV's Super Boy and the project Korean Star. Although he was initially set to launch his career within a joint Chinese-South Korean music ensemble, he departed from the group in 2014. That same year, he landed his first screen acting role as the titular character in the television series Detective Dee, which later broadcast in 2017. He subsequently appeared in supporting roles in screen projects such as Noble Aspirations and Memory Lost in 2016.

His major breakthrough arrived in 2017 with his portrayal of Li Chu in the historical series The Glory of Tang Dynasty. His performance earned critical acclaim and led to the Best Actor award at the 4th Hengdian Film and TV Festival of China. Building on this success, he played Xu Xian in the 2018 fantasy series The Destiny of White Snake and starred in the 2019 wuxia drama Under The Power, followed by the republican-era drama Autumn Cicada in 2020.

In 2021, Ren featured alongside Xing Fei in Miss Crow with Mr Lizard, which gained broad international attention. He also starred opposite Bai Lu in the popular paired dramas One and Only and Forever and Ever, and joined the cast of Twilight with Angelababy. His subsequent screen work included the fantasy romance The Blue Whisper with Dilraba Dilmurat and Thousand Years For You with Li Qin in 2022. His broader television resume includes projects such as Love of Nirvana, The Demon Hunter's Romance, Silent Tides, and Fate Chooses You.

Alongside his acting endeavors, Ren developed a solo music career managed by Catwalk Entertainment and distributed by Seed Music. He made his official recording debut on April 11, 2021, with the studio album Thirty-Two · Rise, which was followed by 33 in December 2022 and 36 · Begin in April 2025. In his private life, he revealed his relationship with Nie Huan in 2017 and announced the birth of his child in February 2018. Writings from his personal blogs between 2007 and 2009 were later published in a collection titled Guo Chao Collection.
