Minatozaki Sana

Sana Minatozaki, known mononymously as Sana, is a Japanese singer based in South Korea. She is best known as a member of the South Korean girl group Twice, formed by JYP Entertainment in 2015, and its sub-unit MiSaMo, formed in 2023. Born on December 29, 1996, in Tennōji-ku, Osaka, Japan, she is an only child. Inspired early in life by the K-pop group Girls' Generation, she began training with EXPG in Osaka in 2009 with plans to pursue a singing career in Japan.

While in middle school, Sana was scouted by a JYP Entertainment employee at a shopping mall and invited to an audition. After passing, she relocated to South Korea in April 2012 to enter the company's trainee program. Over the next three years, she trained for her debut while earlier plans for a four-member group and a six-member group named 6Mix were cancelled. During her pre-debut period, she also appeared in the 2014 music video for Got7's song "A".

In 2015, Sana competed on the reality television survival show Sixteen and was chosen as one of the nine members of Twice. The group officially debuted in October 2015 with the title track "Like Ooh-Ahh" from their extended play The Story Begins. Years later, JYP Entertainment announced the formation of Twice's Japanese sub-unit MiSaMo, featuring Sana alongside bandmates Momo and Mina. MiSaMo released the soundtrack song "Bouquet" for the drama series Liaison: Kodomo no Kokoro Shinryōjo in January 2023 before officially debuting in July 2023 with the extended play Masterpiece.

Alongside her group work, Sana has pursued several solo projects. In February 2021, she became the first Twice member to release a solo single by covering Kobukuro's song "Sotsugyou" through Warner Music Japan, later releasing a collaborative version with Kobukuro. She also hosted the YouTube talk show Sana's Fridge Interview from March to June 2024 and March to August 2025, after previously appearing as a guest on the channel. She appeared in Daesung's music video for "Hando-Chogua" in December 2025, and in July 2026, JYP Entertainment announced her acting debut as the lead female role in Kwon Hyuk-chan's film Nyangi alongside actor Takeru Satoh.

Outside of music and host roles, Sana has gained significant recognition and influence. She was voted among the top idols in Gallup Korea's annual music polls in 2018 and 2019, and ranked as the top female K-pop idol in a survey of South Korean military servicemen in 2019. Over her career, she has represented numerous brands, serving as a model or brand ambassador for skincare and cosmetics companies such as A'pieu, WakeMake, Missha, Espoir, and YSL Beauty in Japan, as well as luxury brands including Graff, Prada, and Ralph Lauren Japan.
