About Kim Da-hyun

Kim Da-hyun, known mononymously as Dahyun, is a South Korean singer, rapper, and actress born on May 28, 1998. She is best known as a member of the South Korean girl group Twice, formed by JYP Entertainment in 2015. Beside her group music activities, Dahyun has established a solo career as an actress, lyricist, and global brand ambassador.

Born in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, Dahyun grew up with her parents and an older brother. During her childhood, she sang in her Christian church choir and participated in school talent shows, initially considering careers as a piano teacher or prosecutor. She first gained attention in sixth grade after a video of her performing an eagle dance at church was uploaded to YouTube. After being scouted at a dance festival, she chose to train with JYP Entertainment over SM and YG. Following more than three years of training, she appeared in Got7's "Stop Stop It" music video in 2014 and competed on the reality television show Sixteen in 2015, securing her spot in Twice.

Dahyun officially debuted with Twice in October 2015 through the extended play The Story Begins. Over the years, she expanded her creative contributions within the group, beginning with songwriting on "Missing U" in 2017 and becoming one of Twice's primary lyricists starting with Feel Special in 2019. Her songwriting credentials include tracks such as "Cruel", "Gone", "Crazy Stupid Love", and "Blame It on Me". Musically, she has absolute pitch and plays both the drums and piano, frequently performing piano solos during Twice's tours. In 2025, her solo track "Chess" was included on Twice's tenth anniversary album Ten: The Story Goes On.

Dahyun made her acting debut in 2025 starring in the film You Are the Apple of My Eye, a remake of a 2011 Taiwanese film for which she also contributed to the soundtrack. Her performance earned her several honors, including the Rising Star Award at the Busan International Film Festival, Best New Actress at the Seoul Global Movie Awards, and the New Star Award at the 29th Chunsa Film Art Awards. She subsequently appeared in the independent film Run to You and starred as an aspiring novelist in the 2025 melodrama series Love Me, receiving a nomination for Best Newcomer at the Global OTT Awards.

Beyond music and acting, Dahyun has been active in fashion and philanthropy. She became a model for the skincare brand A'pieu in 2021 and was named a global brand ambassador for Michael Kors in July 2023, later making her runway debut at New York Fashion Week in September 2024. She has also contributed to charitable causes, donating to the Community Chest of Korea for COVID-19 relief, Ulsan wildfire recovery, and medical treatment for leukemia patients. In early 2026, Dahyun briefly paused her activities due to an ankle fracture before resuming performances at Japan's National Stadium in April 2026.
