Lisa Gilroy

Lisa Gilroy, formerly Lisa Lorentz, is a Canadian actress and comedian. She is widely recognized for producing viral comedic video content, as well as for her recurring appearances on the podcast Comedy Bang! Bang! and various shows on the Dropout streaming platform.

Raised on the south side of Edmonton, Alberta, Gilroy completed her secondary education at Strathcona High School. She later attended the University of Alberta, earning a combined Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degree in drama in 2014. Following her graduation, she relocated to Toronto.

In Toronto, Gilroy worked as a host for YTV's youth programming block The Zone. During this period, she appeared on Canadian television programs including Undercover High, Air Farce, and The Beaverton. Her early comedy work also included performing with The Second City Toronto's Tour Company and the sketch comedy ensemble The Sketchersons.

Gilroy later moved to Los Angeles to advance her comedy career, joining improv troupes at the Upright Citizens Brigade and becoming a member of The Groundlings' Sunday Company. She gained wider public prominence in 2022 after several of her short comedic videos went viral across social media platforms such as Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram.

Her television credits feature roles in series such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Let's Be Real, Fairview, Jury Duty, History of the World, Part II, Black Mirror, and A Man on the Inside. She played Alyssasays in Netflix's Glamorous, Sarah Green in Hulu's Interior Chinatown, Gabby in Apple TV's The Studio, and Kimmy in Shrinking. Additionally, she joined the second season of Peacock's Twisted Metal as Vermin and was cast in Comedy Central's animated series Golden Axe, an adaptation of the Sega video game series.

On digital and audio media, Gilroy appears frequently on Dropout programs like Make Some Noise, Game Changer, and Very Important People. Aside from Comedy Bang! Bang!, she has guest-starred on podcasts including Take Your Shoes Off with Rick Glassman, Bad Friends, TigerBelly, and Whiskey Ginger.

Gilroy's industry recognitions include being named one of Vulture's Comedians You Should and Will Know in 2022, alongside her selection as a New Face of Comedy at the 2022 Just for Laughs festival in Montréal. In March 2025, she served as the host for the 13th Canadian Screen Awards. After appearing four times as a panellist on CBS's late-night show After Midnight, she served as its first guest host in late May, stepping in for Taylor Tomlinson.
