Jisoo

Kim Ji-soo, known mononymously as Jisoo, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, and actress born on January 3, 1995. She gained global prominence after debuting in August 2016 as a member of Blackpink, a girl group under YG Entertainment that became one of the best-selling girl groups of all time. Alongside her work with Blackpink, Jisoo has built a solo career in both music and television, becoming the best-selling female Korean soloist in Circle Chart history with over two million album sales.

Born in Gunpo, South Korea, Jisoo grew up alongside an older brother and sister. In her youth, she played basketball, practiced taekwondo, and harbored aspirations of becoming a painter and writer. She attended the School of Performing Arts Seoul, joining a drama club in eleventh grade. In 2011, she joined YG Entertainment as a trainee after passing auditions. Prior to her official debut, she gained early experience appearing in music videos for Epik High and Hi Suhyun, as well as a cameo in the television series The Producers in 2015.

Jisoo debuted with Blackpink on August 8, 2016, through their single album Square One. In addition to group activities, she hosted the music program Inkigayo from 2017 to 2018 and contributed as a writer to Blackpink tracks including "Lovesick Girls" and "Yeah Yeah Yeah." Over her career, her accolades have included two Golden Disc Awards, three MAMA Awards, a Circle Chart Music Award, two Seoul International Drama Awards, and an investiture as an Honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in 2023.

In March 2023, Jisoo released her debut solo single album Me, featuring the lead single "Flower." The project made her the first female K-pop soloist to sell over one million album copies within a single week. After choosing not to renew her individual contract with YG Entertainment, she established her personal label, Blissoo, in 2024 and signed a global deal with Warner Records in 2025. Through these ventures, she released her EP Amortage, which yielded her first number-one single on the US Billboard World Digital Songs chart, "Earthquake." She achieved her first solo entry on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 2025 with "Eyes Closed," a duet with Zayn, followed by the single "Click" in 2026.

Beyond music, Jisoo expanded into television and film. She starred in her first leading role in the JTBC series Snowdrop (2021–2022), earning the Seoul International Drama Award for Outstanding Korean Actress. Her acting career continued with roles in the series Newtopia and Boyfriend on Demand, a cameo in the film Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman, and her first leading movie role in the action fantasy film Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy.

Recognized for her global influence, Jisoo serves as a global ambassador for luxury fashion brands including Dior and Cartier. She is the most-followed Korean actress on Instagram and appeared on the Forbes Korea Power Celebrity 40 list for 2025–2026. She also engages in philanthropy, donating proceeds from her YouTube channel to Save the Children and contributing ₩150 million to the Korean Red Cross for wildfire recovery efforts.
