She has since established a successful solo career with record-breaking music releases.
Rosé was born on 11 February 1997 in Auckland, New Zealand, to South Korean immigrant parents. In 2004, her family moved to Melbourne, Australia, where she learned guitar and piano and sang in church choirs. After signing with YG Entertainment, Rosé moved to Seoul as a trainee. That same year, she featured on G-Dragon's song "Without You". Outside group activities, Rosé showcased her vocal skills on television shows such as King of Masked Singer and Fantastic Duo.
Rosé made her official solo debut on 12 March 2021 with the single album R. The release sold 448,089 copies in its first week, setting a record for Korean female soloists. Its lead single, "On the Ground", topped the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, making her the first artist to top a Billboard Global chart as both a soloist and group member. The track also became the first song by a Korean female soloist to enter the UK Singles Chart.
In 2024, Rosé signed individual contracts with The Black Label and Atlantic Records. In October 2024, she released "APT." with Bruno Mars as the lead single for her debut studio album, Rosie. Rosé's other solo work includes "Final Love Song", a cover of Coldplay's "Viva la Vida" for Pachinko, "Messy" for F1 the Album, and "On My Mind" with Alex Warren. In 2025, she departed from the Korea Music Copyright Association and signed with WME for solo representation.
