Nana Komatsu

Nana Komatsu is a Japanese actress and model born on February 16, 1996. She is widely recognized for her starring roles in Japanese feature films such as The World of Kanako, Drowning Love, My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday, Threads: Our Tapestry of Love, and The Last 10 Years. She also made her debut in Hollywood with a role in Martin Scorsese's 2016 film Silence.

Komatsu was born in Tokyo and raised in Yamanashi Prefecture. Her parents hail from different parts of Japan, with her father originating from Saga Prefecture and her mother from Okinawa. Growing up alongside two older brothers, she engaged in performance and musical pursuits early in life, taking dance lessons from third grade through her third year of junior high school, while also learning to play the flute during her junior high years.

Her feature acting career launched with The World of Kanako, a performance that earned her several new actress accolades, including the Newcomer of The Year award at the 38th Japan Academy Film Prize. Around this period, she held a contract with the talent agency Stardust Promotion. In addition to her Japanese project slate, she played a minor role in the 2016 historical drama Silence.

Komatsu earned an award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role at the 43rd Japan Academy Film Prize for her work in Family of Strangers. She subsequently starred in the 2020 film Threads: Our Tapestry of Love, which became the sixth highest-grossing Japanese movie of that year and secured her a leading actress nomination at the 44th Japan Academy Film Prize. In 2021, she appeared in Moonlight Shadow and Parasite in Love. The following year, she co-starred alongside Kentaro Sakaguchi in The Last 10 Years, which grossed over 3 billion yen and finished as the eighth highest-grossing domestic film of 2022.

In 2024, Komatsu played Midori, an amnesiac woman on Sado Island, in Tetsuya Tomina's mystery feature Who Were We?, which co-starred Ryuhei Matsuda following its world premiere at the Tokyo International Film Festival in October 2023. She returned to acting in 2025 with a supporting role as an unnamed character known as "The Woman" alongside Kazunari Ninomiya in Genki Kawamura's psychological horror film Exit 8, adapted from a 2023 video game. The movie premiered in May 2025 in the Midnight Screenings section at the Cannes Film Festival, marking her first attendance at the event.

Alongside acting, Komatsu has established a prominent fashion career. She became a House Ambassador for Chanel in 2015 and later fronted the Chanel Fall/Winter 2023/24 Ready to Wear campaign, becoming the first Japanese national featured as the face of a luxury brand collection. Her fashion profile expanded when she was named to The Business of Fashion's BoF 500 Class of 2025 and officially appointed as a Chanel Beauty Ambassador in November 2025. In July 2025, she also served as a living mannequin showcasing 54 historical garments from the 1960s to 2010s for the online exhibition LA MUSEUM NANA KOMATSU.

Komatsu married actor Masaki Suda on November 15, 2021, after having co-starred in multiple films together, including Threads: Our Tapestry of Love. On March 9, 2024, the couple jointly announced the birth of their first child through their respective management agencies.
