Kanna Hashimoto

Kanna Hashimoto is a Japanese actress and former singer born on February 3, 1999, in Fukuoka. Her entertainment career began in third grade in 2007 when she signed with the local agency Active Hakata. She initially worked in regional commercials, appeared in local television dramas, and performed with a children's theater troupe. In 2009, she joined the co-ed music and dance group DVL, which later evolved into the all-female idol group Rev. from DVL. She made her feature film debut in 2011 after successfully auditioning for Hirokazu Kore-eda's movie I Wish.

Hashimoto achieved widespread national recognition in November 2013 when a fan's photograph of her performing at a live event went viral on online platforms such as Twitter and 2channel. The surge in public interest temporarily crashed her agency's server and led to prominent coverage on national news broadcasts. The widespread exposure generated a high volume of interview requests and advertising offers, as well as an immediate film opportunity after a studio executive saw the image.

In 2014, Hashimoto expanded into television hosting, becoming a regular presenter on the variety show Minna no Seishun Nozokimi TV Teen!Teen! and serving as the youngest host in the history of the DAM Channel karaoke program. During the same period, she made her first cover appearances for print publications such as Popteen and Weekly Young Magazine, and appeared in the drama series Water Polo Yankees. In 2015, she was cast in the live-action feature Assassination Classroom.

Hashimoto took on her first starring feature film role in 2016 with Sailor Suit and Machine Gun: Graduation, playing the lead character Izumi Hoshi. She also recorded the movie's theme song as her debut solo musical single, which reached the top spot on the Oricon Daily Chart. Her performance in the movie earned her the Japan Academy New Actor Award in March 2017.

In March 2017, Hashimoto completed her high school education and officially graduated from Rev. from DVL, subsequently relocating to Tokyo to focus on a full-time acting career. That same year, she starred in the movie Haruta & Chika, played Kagura in the live-action Gintama film, portrayed Kokomi Teruhashi in The Disastrous Life of Saiki K., and appeared in the serial drama Metropolitan Police Department Ikimono Section.

Hashimoto maintained a steady output of film and television projects over the following years. She appeared in the drama series Kyo Kara Ore wa!! and was a regular member of the variety show Guru Guru Ninety-Nine in 2018. Her additional film credits include Gintama 2, Twelve Children Who Want to Die, Kingdom, Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Kiss Me at the Stroke of Midnight, and Violence Action. She also established her official fan club in July 2019.
