Ai Hashimoto

Ai Hashimoto is a Japanese actress born on January 12, 1996, in Kumamoto, Kumamoto Prefecture. She is the second of three daughters in her family.

Hashimoto began her path into the entertainment industry in 2008 when she won the HUAHUA audition organized by Newcome. Her mother selected her to participate in the audition because she possessed the strongest facial complexion among the three sisters.

In 2009, Hashimoto achieved wider recognition when she was chosen as the youngest "Miss Seventeen" for the fashion publication Seventeen. She was selected from a pool of 5,267 applicants alongside Emi Kudo, Arisa Takada, and Alice Hirose. That same year, she made her acting debut in the film Give and Go, playing the role of a deaf girl devoted to basketball.

Following her debut, Hashimoto appeared in the 2010 film Confessions. In 2012, she starred in the feature film The Kirishima Thing and also played the character of Sadako in Sadako 3D. Her performance in The Kirishima Thing earned her new face awards from both the Japan Academy and Kinema Junpo.

In 2024, Hashimoto served as a jury member for the 'International competition' section at the Tokyo International Film Festival. On December 31 of that year, she departed her long-standing talent agency, Sony Music Artists, and transferred to the agency Eden.
