Harris Dickinson

Harris Dickinson is an English actor and filmmaker who began his career in British television before earning recognition in international film and television projects. He first gained widespread attention for his starring role in the 2017 drama film Beach Rats, which earned him a nomination for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead.

Dickinson was born on 24 June 1996 at Whipps Cross University Hospital in East London and grew up in Highams Park. At age 17, he dropped out of school while studying film and theatre. He briefly considered joining the Royal Marines before his coach at the RAW Academy in London persuaded him to return to acting.

In 2016, Dickinson was cast in Eliza Hittman's film Beach Rats as Frankie, a young man navigating his sexuality. For his performance, he was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award for Best Male Lead and the Gotham Independent Film Award for Breakthrough Actor. In 2018, he played John Paul Getty III in the FX drama series Trust. His work during this period also included voicing Gurjin in the Netflix series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, as well as appearing in the films The Darkest Minds and Matthias & Maxime.

Dickinson's career expanded in the 2020s with several major feature roles. He played Conrad Oxford in the 2021 film The King's Man, which brought him a nomination for the BAFTA EE Rising Star Award. In 2022, he starred in Triangle of Sadness, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Palme d'Or, and co-starred in the film adaptation of Where the Crawdads Sing. In 2023, he appeared as David Von Erich in the sports drama The Iron Claw, played Jason in the independent film Scrapper, and starred in the FX on Hulu miniseries A Murder at the End of the World, receiving a British Academy Television Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

In 2024, Dickinson had a supporting role in the period drama Blitz and starred alongside Nicole Kidman in the film Babygirl. In 2025, he made his feature film directorial debut with Urchin, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and won the FIPRESCI Prize. He was also cast to portray John Lennon in a four-part Beatles biopic directed by Sam Mendes.

In his personal life, Dickinson has been in a long-term relationship with musical artist Rose Gray since secondary school, and he directed her music videos for "Blue" and "Afraid of Nothing". In April 2025, he signed an open letter advocating for trans rights in the United Kingdom, and in September 2025, he became a signatory of the Film Workers for Palestine boycott pledge.
